Unlike the taskbar, which was rewritten from scratch, Microsoft did not create a new UWP task manager for Windows 11. Instead, the company brings a WinUI-style look to the existing Win32 framework for Task Manager. It's also a way microsoft plans to reinvent Windows.

As the picture shows, Microsoft's new Task Manager finally feels windows 11 style. The company has replaced the tabs for switching between processes, performance, and other sections with a hamburger menu. The hamburger menu appears on the left.

Sliding menu on the left makes Task Manager more like most modern Windows 11 applications.

Task Manager also gets support for dark modes and system accent colors.

Like Windows 10, Windows 11 also uses Accent Colors for various screen elements. You'll need to select accent colors from the Personalization tab, or you can also select Auto accent colors from my background to automatically match colors to the background.

Accent colors apply to the Start menu, taskbar, notification center, buttons, and other areas of the operating system. The same accent color feature is now heading to Task Manager, which supports most colors, but the company says it will only work on the Processes tab, at least for now.

Due to accessibility and readability issues, accent colors are not currently available for tabs such as Performance.

Microsoft didn't mention other tweaks to Task Manager, and the version in Windows 11 Build 22610 Preview seems to be in its early stages because it's not quite ready yet. Microsoft reportedly plans to introduce some additional features in the app.

For example, Task Manager is getting a new section to display specialized information about Application Health and Battery Health.

Given the modular nature of the operating system, it would also be expected to add additional functionality when functional updates are released to the public.

During the webcast, Microsoft developers said that this is not the final design, so the new Task Manager for Windows 11 will get more design improvements and features.
