Chromium-based Microsoft Edge has begun to adopt Windows 11-style design revamps, but more improvements are coming. Microsoft is designing a rounded UI for tabs in the Edge browser, as well as a mica effect that enables tab bars by default.
The latest update to Microsoft Edge Canary supports new experimental features that give tab strips a new look. The tab buttons for Microsoft Edge are turning into rounded UI, which matches the main design of Windows 11.
Edge doesn't enable the new visual improvements by default, so users need to manually enable them by opening two options in Settings:
Show Windows 11 visuals in the title bar and toolbar (preview)
Use rounded corners for browser tabs (preview)
Both of these options are only visible when the experimental flag #edge-visual-rejuv-show-settings is enabled. If the flag is disabled, go to edge://flags and open it, then restart your browser to see the changes.
It's worth noting that the update isn't available for everyone yet, and Microsoft is still working on mica and circular tabs in Microsoft Edge. We should see a visual redesign of Microsoft Edge in the coming months, but the update will be rolled out to Dev and Beta users first.
What's more, the Edge browser has also acquired new scrollbars, and with WinUI, Edge will look more modern.
In addition, Microsoft Edge canary has also added a "tree planting" function, which can be found in the Settings - > Appearance - > select the button to display on the toolbar - > the Etree button.
