There are a lot of great third-party video players for Windows, but Windows Media Player has a special place in the minds of users who watch videos/movies in Microsoft Player since childhood. After launching Groove Music and the movie app that debuted with the Windows Metro UI, Microsoft is now trying to revive Media Player.

Media Player for Windows 11 replaces Groove Music with a new design built using WinUI and Fluent Design. It has some features of the old media player and has a smoother interface similar to other designs of the operating system.

The latest major update to modern Media Player updates the accent color system to support custom colors. With today's update, Microsoft has now introduced a new album details view on Media Player's artist page.

In addition, Microsoft is testing a new video enhancement options dialog box that appears when a video is played in a media player. To try out the new enhancements, users need to right-click anywhere on the video and a new handy context menu will appear on the screen that is playing.

The new context menu allows adjusting the brightness and contrast of the video.

As with previous updates, the latest Media Player improves the performance of media players for users with large music libraries.
