As a qualified southerner, when I learned that I was going to Xilinhot to participate in the ice and snow test drive, my heart was full of expectations and fantasized about running wild in the snow. Of course, what scared me was the itinerary, this time the manufacturer chose the test driving site in The Shangdu Lake of the Xilingol League Blue Flag, and Chengdu did not fly directly, not only needed to transfer twice, but also took a bus for nearly 3 hours. The three-day test drive means that both days are on the road, which is a great challenge for both body and energy.
Even so, I embarked on a journey, pinning my hopes and surprises on this test drive. After all, the biggest charm of ice and snow test drive is that whether you are a novice or a veteran, whether you are driving a front-drive model or a rear-drive model, whether the vehicle has strong horsepower or poor horsepower, you can easily drift and experience the contest between "out of control" and "control".
Coming to the ice and snow test drive site, unlike the previous manufacturers only providing a single model, FAW Toyota brought a full range of models this time, including the crown land amplifier, Lingfang, Yize, Asian Dragon equipped with dual-engine hybrid, and the pure fuel-powered Asiatic Lion. I was pleasantly surprised to see an event to get all the cars of one brand out.
Not only that, the organizers also ingeniously reproduced the world's four classic well-known tracks in equal proportions on the ice lake - The Spa Circuit in Belgium, the Tsukuba Circuit in Japan, the Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom, and the Fuji Circuit in Japan, allowing us to experience the new products under the TNGA architecture.
Seeing this, you may ask, is there a dangerous situation due to the low adhesion of the tires in the ice and snow section? There is no need to worry about this at all. First, in order to provide sufficient basic grip for vehicles on ice and snow roads, FAW Toyota has replaced all test cars with nail tires (each snow tire surface is embedded with more than 350 steel nails, and each steel nail protrudes above 8 mm). Second, even if you rush out of the track due to too fast, the vehicle will be blocked by snowdrifts.
First of all, we drove the Asiatic Lion and the Asian Dragon Twin Engine to experience the "Japan Fuji Circuit", the whole track has more low-speed corners and longer straights, which has a lot of testing the handling performance of the vehicle.
Although the road surface is very smooth, but the Asiatic Lion performance is very stable, once the tire slips, or even oversteer phenomenon, the electronic stability system will correct the body attitude in time, pulling the vehicle back from the edge of the loss of control, we only need to control the direction adjustment and stabilize the throttle.
Looking at the Asian Dragon Double Engine, many people are not optimistic about its handling performance, after all, the car has a body length of nearly 5 meters. However, in actual driving, there is no obvious sense of bulkiness, and with the help of ACA active steering assistance system, there is no understeer even in the faster speed cornering.
After eating the appetizers, the next experience is the "Paz" track, which is played by FAW Toyota's flagship SUV Crown Land.
The first part of the track is the big straight, the Crown Land Release 2.5L hybrid system with the E-CVT drivetrain started quickly and accelerated very linearly. Although the length of the car exceeds 5 meters and the curb weight exceeds 2 tons, due to the E-FOUR electronic four-wheel drive system (through the two motors on the front and rear axles, the vehicle can quickly distribute power and suppress the excess sliding of the wheels), when there is a slip in the corner, the four-wheel drive system will immediately intervene to ensure that the four wheels do not lose power, so that the body can quickly return to steady state. It can be said responsibly that driving on ice and snow roads, four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive are completely two concepts.
That doesn't mean the car doesn't float up, though. After we turn off the ESP of the vehicle, we give the full throttle before entering the corner, and hit the direction back, and by flicking the tail, the vehicle can also easily slide up. However, be sure to pay attention to the throttle strength and the timing of the direction of the play, otherwise this big man can easily rush out of the track because of the pusher.
Next is the "British Silverstone Circuit", friends who often watch F1 events should be no strangers, the track has a number of high-speed corners and low-speed back corners, and the model we test drove was also replaced by the Lingfang Dual Engine Four-Wheel Drive Version. This car is equipped with the E-four electronic four-wheel drive system and the THS II hybrid system, which is composed of a 2.5L engine and a front and rear dual motors, the maximum power of the engine is 132kW, the peak torque is 224N·m, and the total power of the system can reach 225kW.
With the experience of the previous few times, driving The Ling Fang Double Engine made me bolder. After getting on the car, directly adjust the driving mode to sport, and turn off the vehicle's ESP, because the Lingfang Dual Engine is smaller than the Crown Land Release body size, the vehicle will be more relaxed when cornering, even if drivers like me who do not have rich ice and snow driving experience can easily pass.
When burning, there are interesting models in the snow and ice section, such as driving the Izawa Twin Engine in the "Tsukuba Track", which impressed me.
Due to the short body size coupled with the low center of gravity brought about by the TNGA architecture, Yi ze shuangqing is very calm in continuous corners, only need to do a little "pendulum" action, it can be thrown up in the bend, and even let people have the illusion of driving Brz, driving pleasure directly full. Although the parameters of the 2.0L hybrid powered by the Yize Dual Engine are not eye-catching, it is fortunate that the throttle is responsive, giving people a brisk feeling and very easy to get started.
