On December 14, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers held the 2022 China Automotive Market Development Forecast Summit and released next year's forecast report.
Based on the cumulative sales of new cars in the Chinese auto market from January to November this year, the China Automobile Association predicts that the sales of new cars in the Chinese auto market will reach 26.1 million units this year, an increase of 3.1% year-on-year. Among them, passenger car sales were 21.3 million units, an increase of 5.6% year-on-year, and commercial vehicle sales were 4.8 million units, down 6.4% year-on-year. New energy vehicles sold 3.4 million units in the whole year, an increase of 1.5 times year-on-year.

It is worth noting that in July this year, the China Automobile Association raised China's annual sales target from 26.3 million vehicles to 27 million vehicles based on the trend of the automobile market in the first half of the year, but it is clear that the latest annual forecast of the ABOVE-mentioned CAAM is less than 27 million vehicles. Chen Shihua, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that this is mainly due to the aggravation of the shortage of automotive chip supply in the third quarter of this year. Chen Shihua said that from January to October this year, China's car market has a gap of about 750,000 vehicles due to chip supply, and then consider the shortage of chip supply in the next two months, resulting in a reduction of 1.3 million to 1.4 million vehicles in China's car market this year.
Due to the stirring of chip supply problems in the second half of the year, the monthly trend of China's automobile market this year shows the characteristics of high before and low after, and the China Automobile Association predicts that the trend of the automobile market next year will be the opposite, showing the characteristics of low before and high after. Chen Shihua believes that the Opening of the Winter Olympics in the first half of next year will have a certain impact on the production of automobile-related enterprises in North China, and the chip supply problem will continue until next year, and before the end of next year, the chip supply will reach a tight balance.
In addition to chips, there are multiple factors conducive to the development of the automobile market next year, such as China's macro economy will continue to recover steadily in 2022, macro policies will promote automobile consumption, epidemic prevention and control will continue to improve, overseas demand is strong, chip supply will gradually recover, and new energy vehicle exports will continue to increase.
Based on the above favorable conditions, the China Automobile Association predicts that china's new automobile sales will reach 27.5 million in 2022, an increase of 5.4% year-on-year. Among them, passenger car sales were 23 million units, an increase of 8% year-on-year; commercial vehicle sales were 4.5 million units, down 6% year-on-year; and new energy vehicle sales will reach 5 million units, an increase of 47% year-on-year.
