Xu Zhimo, as a representative and pioneer of new Chinese poetry, also left behind a popular classic poem, but later generations seem to be more interested in its romantic history.
Xu Zhimo's life was tied to three women: Zhang Youyi, Lin Huiyin, and Lu Xiaoman. Zhang Youyi is the married wife of his parents and has no love in her life; Lin Huiyin is his most obsessed spiritual lover and the goddess in his fantasy kingdom; and Lu Xiaoman, who gave Xu Zhimo an answer to love, but also gave him a question mark of life.
Of course, we are most interested in the emotional entanglement between Xu Zhimo and Lin Huiyin, and to this day we still have no way of knowing the real emotional state of the two. Xu Zhimo's infatuation with Lin Huiyin is true, but two questions about Lin Huiyin remain unanswered: one is whether Lin Huiyin really loves Xu Zhimo, and the other is whether they have ever been together. However, the next generation naturally wants to maintain the reputation of the previous generation, and when Xu Zhimo pursues Lin Huiyin, they were not yet born, and his mother will certainly not tell them too much about his youth and love, so liang Zaibing and Liang Cong's words are not credible. However, we can analyze what kind of feelings and attitudes Lin Huiyin holds towards Xu Zhimo from the following things.
The first thing was zhang Youyi, who said that when she lived in France with Xu Zhimo, Xu Zhimo had to correspond with the "London girlfriend" every day, and the other party was Lin Huiyin; second, after the Eight Treasure Chest Incident, after Xu Zhimo's death, a box containing his diary, letters, and love letters was sent to Ling Shuhua, but Lin Huiyin "cheated" the box through various relationships, causing strong dissatisfaction from Ling Shuhua and Lu Xiaoman.

In 1931, Xu Zhimo died in a plane accident, and the purpose of his flight was to go to Beiping to attend a lecture on Chinese architectural art held by Lin Hui because of foreign envoys. Through all the above, it can be seen that Xu Zhimo is true love for Lin Huiyin, and Lin Huiyin has had many influences on his life: divorcing Zhang Youyi is because of her, writing so many romantic poems is because of her, and the final death is also because of her.
There is no doubt that Zhang Youyi hates Lin Huiyin, at least has a grudge against her. According to common sense, after experiencing various misfortunes, these two women should not have any more intersection, but in 1948, when Lin Hui was seriously ill, he met Zhang Youyi once. At that time, Zhang Youyi took her children and grandchildren to Beijing to attend the wedding, and Lin Hui, because of this news, asked someone to bring a letter to meet with him, and Zhang Youyi went.
Lin Huiyin said to her: "Finally I have to see, Youyi, I owe you sorry, but I don't regret it." "These 18 words are really poignant! Whether intentionally or not, the word "finally" shows that Lin Hui has always been angry about the things that had destroyed their marriage, and has always wanted to say sorry to Zhang Youyi, and now he finally achieved his wish before his death. "I don't regret it", what is not regrettable?
