Academy Award winner Angela Lansbury, farmhouse in rural Ireland
Legend on stage and screen, Angela Lansbury, was born in London in 1925. As a teenager during World War II, she came to the United States and spent the first few years of her career in California. In 1949, she married her agent, Peter Shaw, and raised two children.
In 1992, she and her husband bought a plot of land in the Irish countryside to build this charming farmhouse. Her mother was born there. Her husband was there to raise their children, and she often lived and worked in the United States, shooting movies.
In her memoirs, Angela Lansbury fondly recalls the quiet and gentle Irish countryside: she gathered with family and friends and sat around her favorite table for a sumptuous dinner.
"I'm a good cook, a passionate chef, and I love food so much, which is comforting and a wonderful way to bring people together," she laughs.
Located on the southeast coast of County Cork, Ireland, this farmhouse was designed and built with the help of a close friend of Stephen Pierce.
Looking out from the meadow to the sea in the distance, the house stands calmly on the meadow. Timeless white façade, slate roof, walls slightly curved as if sinking with time. Lansbury said: "It's like a loaf of bread, on a meadow overlooking a cliff overlooking the sea. "The sea, the meadows and the tranquility in the breeze enchanted her.
On October 11, 2022, Angela Lansbury died at her home in Los Angeles at the age of 96.
