Mad Pill Research Institute, new knowledge every day
What happens when you connect two cities with a single portal?
Friendly exchanges, singing and dancing, greetings across thousands of miles, bringing people of different cultures closer together, and ....... Stick to your face with hell jokes.
This is not some sci-fi brain hole or humorous comedy, recently there has been a "portal" between New York in the United States and Dublin, Ireland, and netizens have witnessed the light-speed shift from happiness to mutual harm.
At first, the people of the two cities were still greeting each other through the portal:
Later, after switching to free microphones, the two sides began to laugh at hell, with the Irishman posing a 9/11 meme directly at the screen to the New Yorkers:
It's late, isn't it?
So what's going on here?
First, let's briefly understand what this so-called "portal" is. In fact, this gameplay has existed before, the installation is called Portal, which is a kind of interactive art sculpture, the shape is very sci-fi, and it is a huge ring.
Interestingly, it can indeed be "teleported", because there is a large screen in the middle of the ring, and then through the camera and live broadcast technology, you can achieve the effect of live video between the two rings like a mobile phone.
You can see the world on the other side of the door in front of the door, and the big screen will be broadcast live 24 hours a day, so people can see what is happening on the other side of the world.
The idea was created by the Lithuanian artist Benediktas Gylys and his friends to turn the sculpture into a kind of bridge that unites the people who inhabit the planet.
They began to conceive the design back in 2016 and officially landed in 2021, when the first pair of portals were built in Lithuania and Poland.
More recently, they have built new portals, as mentioned at the beginning of the article, in New York in the United States and Dublin, Ireland.
At first, the style of painting was also quite good, and passers-by on both sides showed their own unique skills, and they would also cheer for the performance on the other side. For a moment, I felt that the global village was real.
But often when it comes to this kind of time, the fun people immediately shine on the stage.
A passerby in Ireland pulls out his cell phone and points it at the portal, delivering a hellish joke to New York:
On 9/11, the World Trade Center building in New York was crashed by planes. And the meme is to turn the smoke from the building when it was hit in blue, which roughly means that New York is using the building to hold a newborn gender reveal party, and the blue represents a boy. This meme is also available in pink, representing a girl.
It's hell.
After watching it, New York netizens shouted to go to war, "Step on!"
At the same time, Irish netizens also found that the New Yorker really took out a potato:
The elder brother also performed a potato eating, which is supposed to be the Great Irish Famine, also known as the potato famine, which caused millions of deaths.
I knocked all the wooden fish to pieces.
In addition to hurting each other with "hell jokes", all kinds of outrageous passers-by appeared one after another in just a few days.
In Dublin, there seem to be a lot of drunkards, and a drunk eldest sister runs to the portal and stands with her back to the screen for 20 minutes before being taken away by the police.
There is also an old brother who also looks drunk, he first waved to the New Yorkers in front of the screen, and then took off his pants to let the New Yorkers enjoy the chrysanthemums under the moon, causing a burst of wild laughter at the scene.
New York is also outrageous, an adult movie star directly lifted his shirt and said that he wanted to show the Irish the potatoes born in New York.
During this period, there were also children hiding in the crowd, spitting fragrance into the screen.
In the face of various situations, the production team of the portal said that it was a small number of accidents, and most of them were still very friendly. It's just that now that social media is developed, unfriendly expressions are amplified.
They also said that while they could not stop all the outrageous actions, they would find ways to reduce such incidents.
When you think about the design team's original intention of trying to unite all of humanity, it's hard to hold back. But then again, in fact, the brain hole of this kind of giant live video is quite interesting.
Strangers in different weathers, seasons, and cultures dance and interact with each other through the door, and this sense of contrast will definitely bring a sense of distortion to the time.
Most people still like to release kindness, gather in front of the screen, and have a drink:
AirLink:
Friendly greetings to each other:
Some people see their friends studying abroad, others see their separated family members in a foreign country, and everyone observes each other's city and other people in that city through a portal.
All in all, while the interactions weren't always friendly, they were generally good.
I hope that there will be a portal to the south and north in China, and in the future, netizens will stop arguing on the Internet, and say that they will eat a salty tofu brain and meat dumplings in front of each other.
