Art | let culture infiltrate the growth of Hong Kong children and teenagers

Under the background of the normalization of the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the exchange of mainland cultural groups in Hong Kong has been restricted. To this end, Hong Kong United Arts Institutions continue to innovate their working methods, promote Chinese culture in online form, expound the connotation of the times, cultivate spiritual ties, promote spiritual fit, and enhance national identity.

Due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, in June 2021, the month-long "Roots and Souls - Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Intangible Cultural Heritage Online Exhibition" event can only be carried out in the form of online exhibitions. With the theme of "Yellow River Sentimental Rhyme, Intangible Cultural Heritage Dream", the event vividly demonstrated Ningxia's rich intangible cultural heritage resources and intangible cultural heritage protection achievements to the audience through video exhibitions, special lectures, interactive experiences and other forms. Ningxia Babao Tea, Helan Yan and other intangible cultural heritage representative projects and artistic masters gave lectures and displays, and also used online teaching and offline experience to let Hong Kong citizens experience hemp weaving, etc., to fully appreciate the unique charm of Ningxia's intangible cultural heritage and strengthen cultural exchanges and cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong.

Liu Jianfeng, deputy director of the Education and Science and Technology Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said that cultural exchanges between the mainland and Hong Kong are very necessary and of great significance for disseminating Chinese culture and cultivating the patriotic spirit of young people.

The "Paper-cutting Art Carnival" organized by Hong Kong United Arts Institutions in many primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in Hong Kong is very popular with students. "Our paper-cutting art workshop invited the inheritors of paper-cutting in Weixian County, Hebei Province, to explain the historical origins, cultural characteristics, production processes, theme works and inheritance protection of paper-cutting in Weixian County to students in the form of online lectures, and to demonstrate the production after the lecture, so that Hong Kong students can feel the charm of China's excellent traditional culture while enhancing cultural identity and national identity." Yang Qiaoran, project manager of Hong Kong Lianyi Agency, said.

Paper-cutting in Weixian County, Hebei Province, has a history of more than 200 years, and was approved by the State Council in 2006 to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. The use of paper-cutting to popularize the excellent traditional Chinese culture to students not only allows them to participate in it, adds to the fun of the classroom, but also deepens the impression of the students, so that the excellent traditional Chinese culture can infiltrate the growth path of Hong Kong children and teenagers.

Chen Deqin, a Primary School student in Hong Kong, said: "I have never been exposed to paper-cutting before, and today's paper-cutting class let me know that there is such a very interesting handicraft in Hebei. I heard that Hebei will also host part of the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, and I hope that I can go to Hebei during the holidays to learn another pattern of paper-cutting from the teacher, and I can also have the opportunity to see the venues of the Winter Olympic games. ”

It is reported that in the near future, Hong Kong United Arts Institution will organize a series of cultural and artistic activities for primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong to "go to the future together" to welcome the Beijing Winter Olympics, so that Hong Kong children can improve their understanding of the Beijing Winter Olympics while creating art.
