Heyang: The father-son relay is only to protect the national culture

One person and one car, the plains and ravines bear witness to his deep love for folk culture; one paper and one pen, tens of millions of manuscripts express his adherence to and original intention of intangible cultural heritage protection; the son inherits his father's business, and the century relay outlines the cultural treasure house of Heyang folk customs...

He is the winner of the Weinan Intangible Cultural Heritage Conservation Contribution Award, Shi Yaozeng.

He is the most beautiful intangible cultural heritage worker in Weinan City, Shi Peihong.

They are father and son, they are colleagues, they are friends. Not long ago, at the launching ceremony of the 2022 Lantern Festival in Weinan City, they wore ribbons and walked hand in hand to the center of the stage, and received the most beautiful intangible cultural heritage workers and intangible cultural heritage protection contribution awards in the city that were of great significance to them under the tidal applause.

Love becomes a career, a lonely and courageous rooted in the countryside

In Yi Yin's hometown, the poetry of Heyang, such a party of water and soil, in the eyes of Shi Yaozeng, a 77-year-old veteran party member, is not only the garden of Eden that nurtured his own growth, but also the other shore where he pinned his life's ideals and love.

Shi Yaozeng was the deputy battalion commander of the village militia battalion, and he usually led the group to build a dam on the construction site. After writing 28 applications and ideological reports to join the party, he finally got the approval of the organization, joined the Communist Party of China in 1972, and soon after transferred to the Heyang County Cultural Center.

In the eyes of others, this is a "newspaper a cup of tea, every day to the end of the work" idle job, but in Shi Yaozeng's eyes, Heyang County has an extremely rich and valuable tangible cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage, these folk arts are the gift of the yellow land, but also the crystallization of the wisdom of predecessors, at such a juncture, protecting and recording Heyang County culture has become the mission entrusted to it by history, and this sense of mission comes from the depths of the heart.

Therefore, since the early 1980s, Shi Yaozeng has taken root in Heyang folk, and for decades, he has ridden a bicycle to and from the mountains and rivers of Heyang countless times, stepping on every village in Heyang, and recording the folk customs of each village that have disappeared and are disappearing with more than a hundred notebooks.

In this way, with the help of the foundation of 14 years of peasant life and the simple rural friendship, he spoke Heyang dialect, recorded Heyang affairs, and felt Heyang feelings. For decades, he measured the yellow land with his feet and collected the precious cultural wealth of the yellow land with love.

Greatness comes from the ordinary, and there is no hesitation in walking the journey

When excavating folk culture, Shi Yaozeng found that Heyang jumping opera, Donglei gong and drum, Heyang line puppet show these folk cultures are facing the situation of being lost.

Seeing these cultural treasures in trouble, Shi Yaozeng was anxious, afraid that these precious cultural relics would slowly disappear, and at the same time, he knew that the premise of protection was to clarify the current situation of folk culture. The process of cleaning up and sorting out relevant materials is arduous, such as finding a needle in a haystack, but Shi Yaozeng still embarked on the long "Long March" of excavation, collation and inheritance of Heyang folk customs without hesitation.

Since the first book "Approaching Guxin" in 1998, Shi Yaozeng has published sixteen or seven local cultural monographs at his own expense, and has also guided and revised cultural books written and published by more than 20 people in Heyang free of charge, and published village history village history for more than ten villages in the county. For experts, scholars, professors and students from all over the country who came to explore Heyang culture, he did his best to spread Heyang folk culture and local customs to all parts of the motherland.

With the efforts of Shi Yaozeng, a number of traditional folk cultures that embody the local characteristics of Heyang, such as Donglei Gong and Drum, Heyang Face Flower, and Heyang Paper Plastic Window Flower, have been revitalized. He has also participated in dozens of national academic seminars at his own expense, and undertaken research on national cultural topics, and has written more than 30 papers such as "The Masculine Beauty of Weibei Farmers" and "Also Say the "Brute" of Donglei Gong and Drum", and published more than 300 cultural essays, so that the charm of Heyang traditional culture has gradually emerged.

In that special era, he measured this yellow land with his feet, and left a valuable spiritual wealth for today's Heyang with his love of collecting the precious culture of the yellow land.

Forever inherited, bravely undertake the mission and stride forward

Shi Yaozeng's dedication to folk culture also influenced his son Shi Peihong, who works at the Heyang County Cultural and Tourism Bureau. Over the years, working at the grassroots level, he has also followed his father's footsteps to every rural corner of Heyang County.

In order to make Heyang folk culture more of the times and revitalize its vitality, Shi Peihong learned from the strengths of all, and on the basis of dedication to the excavation and investigation of local folk culture, began to explore the use of images to capture the beauty of folk customs, and carried out a lot of publicity and innovation.

He not only took more than 10,000 pictures of folklore events, organized the declaration of more than ten folk art as provincial and municipal intangible cultural heritage protection projects, but also served as the deputy editor of the large-scale picture album "Heyang Memory", the editor-in-chief of the "Heyang Cultural Relics Of the Third National Cultural Relics Census Results Series of Heyang Cultural Relics in Shaanxi Province", and hundreds of folklore pictures were published in "Weinan Daily", "Shenzhou Folklore", "Folk", "Heyang Face Flower" and other newspapers and periodicals, so that Heyang's colorful and varied folk customs were respected and praised.

Shi Yaozeng and Shi Peihong, father and son, have devoted their lives to the love of the homeland and the love of folk culture and folk art, they are like a tree, the roots are deeply rooted in the yellow land, sucking the essence of the earth, dedicating their own green shade.

The fire is endless, and spring is born from Lades. The father and son will continue to relay and march forward for decades on the journey of inheriting folk culture and sticking to the roots of the nation. (Source: Weinan Daily reporter Jia Wei)
