Did you know one of the biggest protests in Bangladesh that only teenagers held in human history?
They are all minors. The oldest of them was less than twelfth grade. Why?
But before I get in, let me tell you exactly what they're doing.
Three teenagers were killed in a horrific traffic accident. They were on their way home from school when a public bus ran over them. They were standing at the bus stop when the killer bus rushed toward another bus, lost control, and ran straight past them.
Transport is one of the most troubling issues in Bangladesh. No one obeys any traffic rules. Due to severe traffic congestion, it can take 5-6 hours to reach distances of several kilometers during rush hour. If you break any traffic rules, you will most likely be overlooked. But if you get caught, just bribing the person in charge with a 100tk bill (one dollar) can get you out of most things.
After the deaths of the three teenagers, the court only demanded that the bus company compensate the victims' families with 15 lakhtaca ($6,250) each. That's it.
So it's clear that justice is being taken away.
And so began this wonderful protest.
