Why did Kangxi and Qianlong live so long? They never touched a "hobby", but the other emperors were very enthusiastic (Part 1)

Nowadays, longevity is no longer rare, and the number of people over 100 years old has gradually increased. Nowadays, in the eyes of the public, longevity is already a common thing, after all, today's living conditions, medical equipment, etc., are far beyond the reach of the past. Therefore, in ancient society, because there were only a few people with a long lifespan, those who could live a long life were naturally worth "exploring".

Historically, the pursuit of longevity is also "everywhere", especially for the royal family and high-ranking officials, to be able to live a long life is their dream, and even some also pursue "immortality". The emperor is the ruler of a country, and in the days of glory and wealth, there are always some people who are difficult to abandon, and always want to "hold everything in the palm of their hands" forever. People say: "Food and clothing think of lust, hunger and cold to steal the heart", the emperor naturally does not have to worry about food and clothing, so in his spare time, he will want to prolong his life.

After years of hard work, the emperors naturally wanted to feel more about such a life in their old age. In fact, although the life expectancy of the ancients has been increasing with the evolution of the times, in our view today, the average life expectancy in that war-torn era is still too short.

In the final Qing Dynasty, there were two emperors who had a long relative lifespan, that is, Kangxi and Qianlong. And the reason why the two of them can live a relatively long life is that they do not touch the "hobbies" that other emperors are keen on.

Ancient lifespan exploration

Regarding the evolution of the life expectancy of the ancients, it is indeed increasing, and the change of life expectancy is closely related to a variety of social conditions. In primitive society, disasters and even wild beasts were serious, and people's average life expectancy was only 15 years; in the Zhou and Qin dynasties, it was only 20 years old; and even in the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties, it was only about 30-33 years old.

The main reason for this phenomenon is the various unexpected circumstances at that time. The low standard of living and medical conditions at that time led to the death of too many babies from birth. Coupled with years of war and strife, the young lives on the battlefield have ceased to exist. Some occasional diseases, without too high medical technology to cure, can not last long to return to the west, there is a lack of food, stench all over the ground. All these factors are important reasons for the short life expectancy of the ancients.

In the Qing Dynasty, some people once said that the average life expectancy of the Qing Dynasty was more than thirty years old, while those emperors were only about 39 years old according to statistics. Emperors should not have been compared to Li Min's age, but their short life expectancy had its own reasons. Although compared with the common people, the emperor, as the ninth and fifth emperors, has the best dietary conditions and the best medical conditions in the world, and does not have to personally wear the battle, but their life expectancy is generally relatively short.

On the one hand, the reason for this is that the emperors work day and night. It is no secret that the emperors of the Qing Dynasty were diligent in their administration, and sometimes too much energy was put into the major affairs of the country, and it was inevitable that there would be various worries and troubles. Every day, there are a large number of things that need to be solved urgently, and some emperors are physically weak and will quickly lose their lives.

In addition, because the emperor was in a "uncontrolled" state, their behavior and so on were relatively free, and sometimes indulging in pleasure was also consuming their own lives. Coupled with the covetousness of others for the throne, some emperors will also die in chaos.

However, Kangxi and the Second Qianlong Emperor were unusual, relying on their own efforts to "increase" the average life expectancy, Kangxi died at the age of 69, while Qianlong reached the age of 89. Why do they live so long? There is a very important aspect that might be called "going with the flow".
