#Life Diary # Yesterday I posted two micro-headlines about the benefits of practicing calligraphy on the headlines, and received two interesting replies. A writer friend told me that it was better to engage in literary creation, and I could earn hundreds of dollars a day. Another friend left a message to marry a layman who doesn't love art is really stupid. Somehow, I suddenly remembered the book "The Moon and Sixpence.".

The book describes an originally ordinary London securities broker Strickland, suddenly fell under the magic of art, abandoned his wife and children, abandoned his life that seemed to others to be rich and happy, rushed to Tahiti in the South Pacific, wrote his brilliant life with a paintbrush, and injected the value of life into the brilliant canvas.

In the eyes of the world, Strickland is crazy and stupid, and he has a good life, but he has to engage in any art, and his life is not guaranteed, so what is the point of living so bitterly? For Strickland, however, he broke free from the material shackles that bound him and gained his spiritual freedom to achieve his dreams, which was undoubtedly happy.

My son said that "the moon" is the "poetry and distance" we yearn for, and "sixpence" is our dream and spiritual pursuit. Just as fish and bear paws can't have both, few people in real life can get both "moon" and "sixpence" at the same time. Some people have been looking up at the "moon" but ignoring the "sixpence" under their feet, and some people have been busy with the "sixpence" but have never forgotten the bright and beautiful "moon" overhead.

For me, calligraphy, writing, painting are the "moon", and working to earn money to support my family is the "sixpence" that I have to pick up. "Moon" is beautiful, "sixpence" is important. I asked myself if I didn't have the talent of Strickland, though occasionally fanatical, fantasizing about how good it would be to do what I loved every day without having to work hard to make money. But the "sixpence" will never be abandoned for the sake of the "moon". I am willing to look at the beautiful "moon" from time to time, enjoy the happiness of the bright moonlight shining on me, and occasionally dream. Actually, I'm satisfied with that. I can be in a daze and dream, and under the tolerance of the layman who does not love art, I am occasionally intoxicated with calligraphy and painting, and I do all kinds of things I like, which is not a kind of happiness. But more often than not, it is also a kind of happiness to work hard to make money in order to give the family a better material condition.

I would like to say thank you to the writer Tiaoyou, in fact, I did not send income to complain about the small income of calligraphy works, for me, with my qualifications now to spend a lot of time to read and engage in literary creation is not very realistic, so I want to be very happy to thank the headline Jun, in this holiday, let me make a bunch of friends who love calligraphy, get the motivation and confidence to write well. In fact, the slow improvement of calligraphy level is the biggest benefit. I also want to say to the friend who said that marrying a layman who does not understand art is a fool: In fact, the rough man is very good, he has done the mundane things, and I have the leisure to see my "moon".

May we all have "sixpence" and often go to see the bright and beautiful "moon".
