【The Story Behind History- Little Known Anecdotes of Lü Bu and Chen Gong】

In the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Chen Gong is also a famous strategist, no less resourceful than the many wise men of wei shu wu forces. He first met Cao Cao, but because of Cao Cao's "Rather teach me to bear the world's people, Hugh teaches the world's people to bear me" to see Cao Cao's face clearly, so he turned from powder to black and abandoned Cao Cao. Later, he met Lü Bu, although this "three-surnamed family slave" also had various black materials, but Chen Gong did not abandon it, advised Lü Bu, and could be called Lü Bu's mastermind.

Later, Lü Bu was captured in Baimenlou, and Cao Cao still wanted to recruit Chen Gong, but Chen Gong still refused, and finally was killed with Lü Bu. In the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", Chen Gong is simply a die-hard fan of Lü Bu and the intellectual guarantee of Lü Bu's forces.

However, in the main history, the relationship between Chen Gong and Lü Bu was actually much more complicated.

Chen Gongqi was not an ordinary strategist in the main history, but more like a Haojie with ambition, boldness, and action, who followed Cao Cao in his early years, but later took advantage of Cao Cao's eastern expedition to Xuzhou, but invited comrades to rebel against Cao Cao and ushered in Lü Bu. In this regard, it was not chen gong who followed Lü Bu, but chen gong who chose lü bu to deal with Cao Cao.

Later, Lü Bu was defeated by Cao Cao, and Chen Gong fled with Lü Bu. The next thing that happened was a reflection of the special relationship between the two people.

In 196 (the first year of Jian'an), Lü Bu's subordinate Hao Meng rebelled and led people to besiege Lü Bu's residence, and Lü Bu had to flee from the toilet naked with a woman in panic and run to Gao Shun's camp to take shelter. Later, Gao Shun led troops to attack Hao Meng, and Hao Meng's subordinate Cao Sex also defected and cut Hao Meng, and Hao Meng was beheaded by Gao Shun. Afterwards, Lü Bu asked Cao Sex the reason for the incident, and Cao Sex replied: Hao Meng rebelled because he was instigated by Yuan Shu. Lü Bu asked Hao Meng's party members who else was there, and Cao Sheng replied: There is also Chen Gong.

At that time, Chen Gong was next to Lü Bu, and the atmosphere immediately became awkward. Chen Gong's old face was red, and everyone could see his strange appearance.

This incident is recorded in the "Hero's Record" written by Wang Yue, one of the seven sons of Jian'an.

Chen Gong was shaken out of this matter, I don't know if I denied it on the spot, the book did not say. Later, Lü Bu treated Cao Sex kindly, obviously believing that Cao Sex was not lying, and was half-convinced, if not completely convinced, of Chen Gong's involvement in Hao Meng's rebellion. However, Lü Bu considered that Chen Gong was a general, selectively ignored it, and did not continue to pursue ("Heroes"): "Bu Yigong General, do not ask." ”)。 It can be seen that the relationship between Chen Gong and Lü Bu is not simply the relationship between the lord and the counselor or the lord and his subordinates, the two are more like cooperative partners at this time, Chen Gong has its own subordinates, and Lü Bu does not expect Chen Gong to be completely loyal to himself at this moment.

After that, Lü Bu fought against Cao Cao and Liu Bei, and although Chen Gong offered Lü Bu a plan, Lü Bu did not listen, and eventually Lü Bu was defeated. Chen Gong sighed that "this person did not speak from the palace, so much so that", but also refused to surrender Cao Cao, and after entrusting his own old and young to Cao Cao, he calmly went to death. Cao Cao later provided for Chen Gong's family as promised.
