Tesla may raise its North American chargers to more than 300KW by the end of the year

Webmaster's House (ChinaZ.com) January 26 News: On Friday, Twitter user @SawyerMerritt quoted an unnamed source as saying, "Later this year, Tesla superchargers in North America will increase the charging speed to 324kW (originally 250kW)."

It's actually entirely possible, because Tesla CEO Elon Musk is already talking about it. Another Twitter user reported @MarcoRPTesla that according to an employee of Tesla's supercharger division, the power will increase to 370kW.

In June 2021, Tesla held a press conference to hand over their Model S Plaid to some customers. Among other things, Musk said it's clear the company will be developing a new supercharger that will outweigh its current power. Tesla V3 superchargers currently offer charging speeds of up to 250 kW; this is compared to Tesla's earlier V2 stalls, which can only deliver up to 150 kW of power. Because the V3 charging station doesn't share electricity like Tesla's other charging stations, the company said, coupled with higher output, it expects the average charging time to drop to around 15 minutes. However, this is not the company's goal to maximize customer satisfaction.

The emergence of more powerful Tesla chargers has long been discussed in the community. At the delivery event, Musk officially confirmed for the first time that the company is working on this. He said that at present, the installation of the 250-kilowatt supercharger is actively underway, and soon Tesla will begin to increase its capacity to 280, 300, 350 kilowatts.

Musk did not say details of when a more powerful supercharger would be available. However, with the upcoming release of Cyberruck, with its top-of-the-line version having a range of more than 500 miles, this faster charging speed will be desperately needed.
