"I'm going to see who can solve my problem!"

One day in early June 2021, a "Shanghai grandfather" Mr. Lu Lao, with a lot of resentment, came to the Xuhui District People's Court in Shanghai and complained to the staff that many departments could not solve a housing inheritance dispute, hoping that the court would give an explanation.

"Big brother, you first calm down, let's sit down and talk slowly." Mr. Lu Lao was received by Yi Weiju, a people's mediator specially invited by the Xuhui District Court.

"Nothing is happier than resolving mass disputes" is a phrase that Yi Weiju often hangs on his lips. She poured a glass of water for Mr. Lu lao and listened to him speak slowly.

It turned out that 30 years ago, Mr. Lu Lao placed his hukou in the house left by his mother to facilitate his niece's study, and now his niece is married, but the hukou cannot be moved out. "They said they wanted everyone to sign the title deed, but my mother died a long time ago!" Mr. Lu Lao had two hands and a stall, and the progress of things seemed to be stuck.

Yi Weiju has been engaged in notarial legal services for more than 30 years, and she has handled many similar cases, and she has long been familiar with the road. While comforting Mr. Lu Lao, she explained the legal provisions, from the specific requirements of the law to the terms of reference of the unit. Yi Weiju's attitude was gentle and detailed, and Mr. Lu Lao slowly recovered his calm.

In this case, Yi Weiju suggested that the issue of inheritance be notarized be resolved, and then the hukou migration should be handled. With years of experience, Yi Weiju helped Mr. Lu Lao find his parents' marriage certificate 70 years ago at the Huangpu District Archives in Shanghai, which proved the relationship between husband and wife, and finally smoothly handled all the formalities. Afterwards, Mr. Lu presented Yi Weiju with a pennant and wrote a letter "Treat each other with sincerity and serve wholeheartedly."

Looking at the raised corners of the old man's mouth, Yi Weiju smiled happily.

In her career, there have been countless scenes of this kind, but the smiles of every crowd are precious to her and make her feel the happiness of mediation work.

In addition to mediation work, Yi Weiju is also the head of judicial assistance of the Shanghai Xuhui Notary Office in the Litigation Service Center of the Shanghai Xuhui District Court. Since serving as a mediator, she has actively expanded the function of notarization in participating in judicial auxiliary affairs of the court and worked service.

In October 2021, a number of intellectual property cases entered the Xuhui District Court, and Yi Weiju arranged for notaries to travel more than 3,000 kilometers in two days to successfully complete the service of documents of parties in other provinces. This is the first time that the Xuhui District Court has entrusted a notary force to participate in the service, which not only preserves the relevant evidence in a timely manner, but also enhances the credibility of the service and effectively prevents subsequent disputes.

In addition, Yi Weiju also actively participated in the work of notarization in diversified dispute resolution. With her full participation, Xuhui Notary Office realized the investigation and verification of the basic facts of the inheritance case for the first time and issued a full case investigation report. "With a notarized investigation report, judges can save a lot of investigative energy, so as to focus on resolving core disputes and improving trial efficiency." Xuhui District Court Judge Wang Hongxia praised Yi Weiju.

Yi Weiju's job is very busy, but she still insists on coming to the court's litigation window two days a week to receive her. According to statistics, from January to November 2021, she mediated and participated in 380 cases of notary auxiliary affairs, with a success rate of 70%.

"As a people's mediator, I am happy to be able to participate in the construction of the court's diversified dispute resolution mechanism and use my professional strengths to help the masses as much as I can." Yi Weiju said. (Chen Feng, correspondent of this newspaper, Zhang Chao)
