Hong Xiuquan was very sad, after being sad, the days had to go on, but Hong Xiuquan was born a restless person, Hong Xiuquan felt that other people could not pass the exam, or they would come up with their own questions, so Hong Xiuquan founded the Worship of God sect himself, and then he established the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and the future examinations were all written by Hong Xiuquan himself.
Soon, the power of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was like a wind and clouds across the country, and the Qing Dynasty was in a terrible state, and the taiping heavenly kingdom's army directly captured the city of Nanjing, and designated the city of Nanjing as the capital of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and Nanjing was also renamed Tianjing.
In the city of Nanjing, Hong Xiuquan built a Heavenly King's Mansion, and then Hong Xiuquan lived in the Heavenly King's Mansion, and the life in the Heavenly King's Mansion was too moist, and Hong Xiuquan never went out of the Heavenly Capital City again.
Hong Xiuquan began to degenerate, and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom began to corrupt from the top personnel, and later the Tianjing Incident occurred, and Yang Xiuqing, Wei Changhui and other backbone personnel of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom were killed. The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was seriously injured, and after that, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom gradually lost its favorable situation in the confrontation with the Qing army.
Although the Qing government also sent troops to fight during this period, the corrupt government and huge popular resentment made the "Heavenly Kingdom Team" very strong, so it could only let the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom go all the way north. However, after all, the population of the rebel army is limited, and most of these cities are abandoned after occupation, so in the end the rebel army only occupied Jiangxi, Hubei, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangnan and other regions, because these places were developed and rich.
Perhaps Hong Xiuquan himself did not expect that the Qing government would be so "vulnerable", he could easily divide the government's country, looking at the government that he had robbed the head but was rejected countless times, Hong Xiuquan may have shouted in his heart, "Yesterday you ignored my love, today I let you climb high." However, it is not a good thing that things are too optimistic, and the proud and complacent Hong Xiuquan and the four kings under him are about to face the double encirclement and suppression of "self-disintegration and powerful enemies".
In 1864, the Heavenly Capital was breached, and in 1872, the last Taiping Army was overthrown, and the 14-year Taiping Heavenly Kingdom withdrew from the stage of history. The most obvious reason for the failure of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was that the contradiction between the internal management orders began to break out, coupled with the "humiliating joint effort" of the Qing government and the Western powers.
In the final analysis, such a result was Hong Xiuquan's mistake, because after Hong Xiuquan, as a leader, conquered a large number of areas, arrogance and indulgence spread throughout the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and the entire rebel army lost its rear strength during the most critical period of the uprising.
Coveting pleasure and handing over the power to Yang Xiuqing, looking at his outstanding contributions, Yang Xiuqing, whose ambitions were inflated, rose to the point of replacing him, so that he was killed later, and the four major cadres of the kings of the East, West, South, and North also fell one by one.
The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom created by Hong Xiuquan advocated the "monogamous" system, but Hong Xiuquan himself had a group of wives and concubines, and in the process of the wild attack, he married his wife madly, although there was only one veritable "Heavenly Concubine", but he was addicted to pleasure and was doomed to fail to achieve great things. In 1851, Hong Xiuquan and the kings selected concubines among the marching women, and in order to defeat the "regional discrimination", they would select concubines every time they broke through a place.
The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom advocated equality between men and women, in the early days women could fight wars, and even a number of excellent female generals emerged, and Hong Xiuquan also stipulated in the "Book of Heavenly Articles" that men and women should live separately, including a large number of families, men are brothers, women are sisters. However, with the establishment of the capital nanjing, Hong Xiuquan issued an edict that "women are responsible for internal affairs, not outside", so women gradually withdrew from the political stage, young and beautiful into the palace to become concubines, the rest are responsible for some chores.
According to the "Notes of Jiangnan Chunmeng'an", in Hong Xiuquan's Heavenly King's Mansion, the queen niangniang had 16 names and 208 people under the jurisdiction of Ai Niang, Qiao Niang, Miao Nu, and Jiao Nu; 24 princesses had a total of 960 people in 7 names such as Concubines and Yuan Nu, with a total of 1168 people in both categories, all of whom belonged to concubines. Of course, although the emperor said that there were three thousand harem beauties, hundreds of them were already remarkable, and this book that recorded Hong Xiuquan's wife "2000" was also questioned by posterity, but Hong Xiuquan was indeed addicted to pleasure after he was all set in Nanjing.
After Hong Xiuquan's son was captured, his "Hong Fuyao Self-Description" mentioned: "I am now 16 years old, and the old king is my father. I have 88 queens, and I am born to the second queen, Lai. When I was 9 years old, I got 4 wives. It is not difficult to see that Hong Xiuquan has 88 wives on a historical basis.
However, the madness of the kings to accept wives and concubines was an act of "only allowing officers and soldiers to set fires, and not allowing the people to light lamps", the people could only live separately, even between husband and wife, it was difficult to meet, and over time, the people in the Taiping Heavenly Country also began to riot, and such regulations were gradually abolished until the later period.
Although a scholar claims to be the second son of God and the younger brother of Jesus, the ancient path of the sages in his heart should still be traced, but Hong Xiuquan was so greedy and arrogant after fixing the capital in Nanjing, which is the real superficial reason for his failure. After the Tianjing Incident, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom went into decline, and in 1864, Zeng Guofan led the mighty Xiang army, and the Heavenly King Hong Xiuquan died of illness during the siege of the city, and even claimed to be going to heaven to ask the Heavenly Soldiers.
After Zeng Guofan captured Nanjing, he dug up Hong Xiuquan's grave, opened the coffin and saw that Hong Xiu's full body was twisted, his body was black, and he was puffy, and after three years of tongzhi, Zeng Guofan wrote to the imperial court to report to the emperor the cause of Hong Xiuquan's death:
Pang Jiyun, Sun Shangfu, etc., and all the wen and wugong were examined together, and the corpses followed the cult, did not use coffins, and wrapped them all over the body with embroidered dragon yellow satin. Although hakama is hakama, it is also dragon satin. The head is bald and hairless, and it must still be fully preserved, and it has been white. Left and right arms, the flesh is still not shed. Examine the corpses, raise them to fire and burn them! There are pseudo-palace maids, who are women with the surname of Huang in Daozhou, that is, those who bury the corpse by hand. The courtiers were questioned, and it was confessed that Hong Xiuquan had not seen his ministers for many years before his death. On April 27, due to the emergency attack of the officers and troops, he was poisoned and died.
However, for the real cause of Hong Xiuquan's death, from the future account of the young heavenly king Hong Fuyao, there are still doubts among later experts and scholars. Hongfu Town confessed that Hong Xiuquan did not eat pork, liked to fry centipedes in oil, and in the later period of food shortage, often led the congregation to eat "nectar" (weed), so over time this nearly half a hundred men, plus married 88 wives, 14 years after the founding of the country did not pay attention to political affairs, and finally Hong Xiuquan died in the Siege of the Qing Army.
Hong Xiuquan, as a scholar, launched the largest peasant uprising in Chinese history, successively attacked half of the Qing Dynasty, and also prompted Zeng Guofan and the Xiang Army, a fig leaf of the Qing Dynasty, which could make the Qing Dynasty panic, but after a little success, he fell into temptation, indulging in female sex, comfortable pleasure, ignoring political affairs, excluding dissidents, and finally cutting off his life because of the strange hobby of eating centipedes, which was the greatest luck of the Qing government and his infinite sorrow.
