The longest married couple in the UK celebrates their 81st wedding anniversary

Ron and Joyce, from Milton Keynes, Bucks county, were awarded the title of the longest married couple in the UK after celebrating their 81st wedding anniversary on 4 January. The record holders were Ron and Beryl Golightly, from Yorkshire, who had been married for 80 years, and Ron died last December at the age of 101. Joyce said: "We never thought we could go through 81 years together, and we knew we were lucky. The couple married and had two children, Eileen and Bill. Ron, who served in World War II and later worked in a local garage, said: "Sometimes life is tough, but we get through it together.
