January 5 this year marks the 46th wedding anniversary of Prime Minister Hun Sen and Mrs. Venlane (5 January 1976 – 5 January 2022).
Prime Minister Hun Sen wrote on his official Facebook page recalling the past of this love during the war.
Hun Sen said: "I always thought that what my wife and I went through during the war was unbelievable that I could live to this day.
The lives of warriors in the midst of war, especially during the Pol Pot genocidal regime, we must fight for the overthrow with our lives as capital, and it is not a simple matter.
There was no happiness in marriage at that time.
We lost our first child and our wife separated when she was 5 months pregnant with her second child. It wasn't until I met my eldest son (Hummanai) again that he called me uncle.
Hun Sen said on Facebook that the stories that happened to him were not only the stories of him and his wife, but also the stories of Cambodians living in that period.
The separation of the two of us brought my wife and I to tears. But these tears gave the whole country a chance to be born again, including my family. We went from a poor young couple (I was 24 at the time and my wife was 22) to now we have a full house of children and grandchildren, but still remember the most difficult times we had at that time.
Hun Sen also said: "The story about me and my wife has been published in Khmer, English and Chinese. At the same time, the TV series "Son Under the Full Moon" has also begun filming, and the filming time is 14 months.
Prime Minister Hun Sen called on all couples not to expose each other's "family ugliness" on social media after divorce.
He called on all people to stop this immoral behavior, and to respect each other, especially to protect the dignity of children.
Hun Sen pointed out that parents expose each other, which can seriously harm the dignity of children and even seriously affect their studies.
He said that the happiness of couples does not lie in whether the wedding scene is grand, after all, some couples only hold a simple wedding but can grow old in vain, while some do special things, but divorce shortly after marriage.
