In his lifetime, General Zhang Xueliang embodied two important decisions he made for the sake of the great righteousness of the country and the nation, one was the Northeast Yizhi and the other was the Xi'an Incident, which contributed to the formal reunification of the whole country by the National Government, and the Xi'an Incident promoted the anti-Japanese united front of the whole nation. In the Xi'an Incident, one of General Zhang Xueliang's subordinates played a key role in the process of capturing Chiang Kai-shek alive, and he was Wang Yuzhen, the commander of the first battalion of the Northeast Army Guard.
Wang Yuzhen is a graduate of the ninth class of the Northeast Lecture Wutang, a native of Daxia Village, Heishan County, Fengtian Province, born in 1896, with the character Baoheng. Since childhood, he was intelligent and fond of knives and guns, and as a teenager, he was determined to eliminate violence and be good, kill the enemy and serve the country, and later he was admitted to the famous Northeast Lecture Hall with excellent results, where he was like a fish seeing the sea, trying to absorb various military knowledge and exercise his physique. The six major tutorials, exemplary rules, he was proficient in the door, and during the school period, he attracted Zhang Xueliang's attention, this period is when Zhang Xueliang reorganized the Northeast Army, many troops were reorganized and reduced, and many of the students who lectured on martial arts were also eliminated, so when he graduated from the lecture hall with excellent results, many people looked at this young man with great admiration, and Zhang Xueliang also immediately transferred Wang Yuliang to his side, wanting to focus on training and reusing it.
During the Great War of the Central Plains, Chiang Kai-shek dispatched Zhang Xueliang's Northeast Army to help in the customs, and Wang Yuzhan followed Zhang Xueliang into the customs to fight, and before the Xi'an Incident, Wang Yuzhan had been promoted to battalion commander of the first battalion of General Zhang Liangxue's guard, and often followed Zhang Xueliang's march to fight.
In late October 1936, Chiang Kai-shek, annoyed by Zhang Xueliang's passive implementation of his policy of taking the outside world before settling in, personally visited Xi'an and wanted to urge Zhang Xueliang to abandon his illusions and encircle and suppress the Communist Party, but at that time Zhang Xueliang was burdened with national hatred and family hatred and did not want to attack his own compatriots, and he was also deeply impressed by the Declaration of the All-National War of Resistance issued by the Communist Party.
However, Zhang Xueliang underestimated Chiang Kai-shek's reactionary nature too much, repeatedly persuaded the army to be rejected by Chiang Kai-shek, and even ordered a change of general, Zhang Xueliang could not bear it, and after careful discussions with General Yang Hucheng, who was jointly stationed in Xi'an, decided to launch a military advisory to force Chiang Kai-shek to resist Japan. On the evening of December 11, Zhang Xueliang secretly ordered Wang Yuzhen to capture Chiang Kai-shek alive and not kill him. Wang Yuzhan, with three hundred of his men, set out at 2 a.m., arrived at Huaqingchi, handed over the guns of Chiang Kai-shek's guards at the door, and then completely arrested and shot the remaining guards.
When Wang Yuzhan led his men to rush into Chiang Kai-shek's living quarters, Chiang Kai-shek's bed was still warm, the cloak was still there, and it was obvious that he did not flee far, so he ordered a search, the sky was just dark, and he found Chiang Kai-shek who could not escape near a rockery, Wang Yuzhan completed the important task arranged by Zhang Xueliang, he became the most important link in the Xi'an Incident, and made indelible contributions to the itinerary of the anti-Japanese national united front.
After the Xi'an Incident was peacefully resolved, Zhang Xueliang, fearing that the generals who had captured Chiang Kai-shek would be retaliated against by Chiang Kai-shek, gave them a very generous settlement fee and let them leave the military camp, and Wang Yuzhan also left the Northeast Army and took his family away from home. Later, he moved to Guizhou, and Yunnan, after liberation, because of Wang Yuzhan's personal request, the People's Liberation Army helped Wang Yuzhan and his family return to their native Heishan County, and since then he has lived in the countryside and lived a peasant life of sunrise and daily income, no one knows that he is one of the heroes of the Xi'an Incident, until after the reform, Wang Yuzhan's deeds are more known.
