Usually, when we hear others praise someone, we generally don't say how capable he is, but say that he has the ability. People with ability must not only have strong ability, but also know how to be a person, in other words, IQ and emotional intelligence are very high. Such a person is often easier to achieve, because he knows where his ability should be used, and his posture is very low, and the more capable people are, the lower their posture.
On the contrary, some people who think they are very capable usually appear in front of others with a high posture, even as subordinates, they also think of themselves as bosses, as if the team cannot work normally without him. Such a person must have a day of loss, only to lower the posture, recognize their position after doing their duty, not greedy at key moments, the beauty of adulthood, is a capable person.
In the I Ching, the third yao of Kun Gua, that is, Liu San Yao, has this sentence: "Han Zhang Ke Zhen." Or from the king's business, nothing will end." The gist is to say that a person is talented but not ostentatious, does not show off, and then embarks on the right path. If he goes to assist others and does not pretend to be successful, he will end up with good results.
This phrase is directed at most of us, that is, people who are subject to people and subordinates. After all, there are very few people in various industries who sit in the position of the top leader, and the others are "or from the king's affairs". The success of such people, in addition to relying on their own skills, but also to lower their posture, meritorious and not to live, otherwise it will be unfavorable.
First, the White Emperor City is isolated
Anyone who has read the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" knows that Liu Bei summoned Zhuge Liang when he was critically ill in the White Emperor's City, entrusted him with the Shu Han Dynasty and the later lord Liu Chan, and left behind such a sentence: "If the heir can be supplemented, he can be supplemented; if he is not talented, the king can take matters into his own hands." It means that if Liu Chan can assist him well, he will assist him well; if he can't afford it, you will replace him.
Liu Bei's words may have the meaning of fighting psychological warfare, and he knew that as soon as this sentence was uttered, Zhuge Liang would naturally not take Liu Chan's place instead. Later, Zhuge Liangming knew that Liu Chan (Ah Dou) could not support him, and he did not have two hearts, or single-mindedly assisted Liu Chan. Although Zhuge Liang had the status of a "father like a father" in Shu Han, and the whole world knew that he was the real ruler, his posture was always under Liu Chan.
Because since Zhuge Liang followed Liu Bei down the mountain at the age of 27, he positioned himself as a person who "followed the king's affairs", even if he was in a high position of power in the future, and had the power to kill and seize against hundreds of officials and subjects, which was higher than the prestige of the later lord Liu Chan, he also knew his identity soberly. In Zhuge Liang's heart, there was only Liu Bei's entrustment, "since he was ordained, he has lamented night and night, fearing that the entrustment will not be effective, so as to hurt the ming of the former emperor." He didn't have any unsent thoughts.
It can be seen that Zhuge Liang's Hanzhang Kezhen is that he used his talent on the right path of the Xingfu Han Room, rather than a personal display. He wholeheartedly assisted the later lord Liu Chan, even if his own ability was not superior to the other party, in the process of the Eastern Expedition and the West, he did not take the credit to himself once, and later he was able to die well - this kind of good death, but not to leave a whole corpse, but to leave a good name.
What does Zhuge Liang's story reveal to us? When you are not the boss in the company or unit, but a subordinate, use your talents on the right path to help the superior leaders to do one thing, rather than showing off and being arrogant. Don't rush to ask for credit when you are successful, no matter how big your skills are, you should lower your posture, your credit will naturally be remembered by others, and do what you should do wholeheartedly, so that you are a really capable person.
2. Death of Yang Xiu
Let's take a negative example. When I was in middle school, I remembered that there was an article in the text called "The Death of Yang Xiu", which told the story of Yang Xiu, a talented man who liked to play small and clever, never low-key, and was too public in front of Cao Cao, and Cao Cao couldn't bear to kill him. Later, I read the "Zizhi Tongjian" and found that there was some discrepancy with the articles in the language textbook, which was the last word. In this text, there are three stories like this:
One day, someone paid tribute to Cao Cao with a box of puff pastry. Cao Cao wrote three big words on the box: "One He Crisp", put it on the table and walked away. Yang Xiu came in and saw it, so he picked up the spoon and several people around him to eat this box of puff pastry. Cao Cao came in and asked what was going on. Yang Xiu said, you told us to share the food, because the box said one person and one bite of crisp. It turned out that he had taken the word "he" apart for a human being, and at this time Cao Cao outwardly praised him for being smart, but in his heart he hated it.
Another time, Cao Cao went to see the newly built garden, and without saying a word, he wrote a big "living" character on the door of the garden and left. No one else knows what it means. At this time, Yang Xiu said to the craftsmen that writing a movable word in the door, which together is the word "wide", which means that the minister said that you have made the door too big and should be made smaller. When it was finished, Cao Cao liked it very much, and asked who understood the meaning of the words he wrote, and everyone said that it was Yang Xiu. Cao Cao was very happy on the surface, but very uncomfortable in his heart.
These two times are not counted, Yang Xiu once heard Cao Cao say chicken ribs, so he encouraged everyone to withdraw the next day, so everyone began to prepare. Cao Cao was furious when he saw it, and asked who made you do this, and everyone said it was Yang Xiu. And Yang Xiu explained: It was you who said you wanted to retreat, because chicken ribs are tasteless and it is a pity to abandon them, I know that you want to retreat. At this time, Cao Cao was eager to kill Yang Xiu.
Later, Cao Cao took advantage of the situation to kill Yang Xiu. Yang Xiu's death was a death that he did not achieve the "Hanzhang Kezhen" mentioned in the "I Ching", showed his little wisdom everywhere, provoked the disaster of killing himself in front of the suspicious Cao Cao, and failed to achieve "or from the king's affairs, there is no end." If he did not pretend to be clever, but used his talent to assist Cao Cao, did not speculate on the meaning of the other party, and lowered his posture, the general outcome would be good.
Whether in terms of talent or family lineage, Yang Xiu is not lost to Sima Yi, and the reason why the end is different is that there are personal reasons in addition to taking sides. Yang Xiu was proud of his talents, knowing that he was Cao Cao's subordinate, but did not assist him well, but repeatedly violated the taboo, and even repeatedly operated against Cao, even if there were "dragons and snakes in the pen, and the chest is splendid." Talk about the four seats, the talent of the champion of the group, in the end there is no good end.
3. Zhang Liang and Liu Bang
After talking about Yang Xiu, when we look at Zhang Liang, who is also a courtier, we find that the talents between people are almost the same, but the wisdom is very different. Also an assistant to the king, Zhang Liang can be described as a strategist throughout the ages, and after assisting Liu Bang to achieve the great cause of the emperor, he lived in seclusion in the mountains and forests and was able to die well. The legendary story about Zhang Liang can't be finished in half a day, so I will tell the story between him and Liu Bang.
After Zhang Liang's revival was hopeless, he took a copy of the "Taigong Art of War" and looked around for the Ming Lord, but every time he told others about the schemes in this book, others were either not interested or could not understand. After all, the rebel army at that time was all peasants, and there were not many literate people, so naturally they could not understand it, and even if they understood it, they would not listen, because in their view, fighting a war was nothing more than taking up a sword and going directly to the battlefield, and whoever had more people had a chance of winning.
But Liu Bang is different. When Zhang Liang told Liu Bang about the "Taigong Art of War," Liu Bang not only understood and listened with relish, but also often used Zhang Liang's schemes, so Zhang Liang decided to follow Liu Bang and sighed: "Pei Gong is dead." This sentence comes from the "History of the Liuhou Family", which means that Liu Bang may be the Son of Heaven given to us by heaven, which shows his trust in Liu Bang.
And Liu Bang is also obedient to Zhang Liang, as long as Zhang Liang thinks that he can do what he is determined to do, Zhang Liang opposes things he will immediately correct the mistakes, usually affectionately call each other "sub-room", which is really a blessing for Zhang Liang. Liu Bang claimed that after emperor, he killed the heroes with different surnames, and Han Xin, Peng Yue, and Yingbu were not spared, but Zhang Liang survived.
Zhang Liang was able to survive, not because he helped Liu Bang do much, which he was not as good as Han Xin, but because he knew when he should behave, what his situation was, and when he assisted Liu Bang, he did his best, no matter how much victory he achieved, he was not carried away by success. When Liu Bang was enfeoffed as a prince, Zhang Liang refused, leaving only a false name of "Liu Hou".
It should be said that Zhang Liang perfectly interpreted what is "HanZhang Kezhen." Or from the king's business, nothing will end." Full of talent, in the midst of planning, decisive victory thousands of miles away, but very low-key, even if he is under the weight of Liu Bang, he also lowers his posture, plus he knows that he is not a member of the Fengpei Group, and how much merit he has made is just a strategist, so he will assist Liu Bang as his big thing, never strive for merit, and leave quietly when it is time to retire, I think such a person is the most capable.
There is a saying in the Tao Te Ching: "For the sake of not being ashamed, the merits of the living." Fu Wei Fu Ju, is not going to go." A person's deeds, without adding their own tendencies, will not be successful, and when he does not care about anything, there is nothing to fear of losing. But it is difficult to do this, because people have too much greed and unwillingness.
It is even more difficult to achieve this sentence in the I Ching, "There is no end to success." When they know that what they are doing is the credit of others, how many people really work hard to do it? Whether it is working in the company or finding an errand in the unit, isn't there a part of the people who only do five or six points when doing everything? Not greedy, clear their positioning, lower their posture, meticulously do their own things very well, this kind of person is not only powerful, but also a really capable person.
