In 1927, she was successfully admitted to a university in Changsha for further study, where she was enlightened by Marxist thought, enthusiastically participated in the student movement, and participated in leading the demonstrations of Changsha students to fight against feudal and conservative ideas and brutal warlord rule. In March of the same year, she successfully joined the Communist Party of China and worked together with the revolutionary cause.
In May 1927, the reactionary officer Xu Keshu launched a long-planned counter-revolutionary coup in Changsha, arbitrarily confiscating the weapons of the workers' pickets and maliciously hunting down and killing Communists stranded in various parts of Changsha, known as the "Ma-Ri Incident". After this incident, Jian Xianren immediately turned to secret underground work and actively moved to Changsha and other places to rescue the rest of the party members. In order to avoid revealing his identity, Jian Xianren left Changsha according to the orders of his superiors and rushed to the revolutionary base area in western Hunan and Hubei to join the ranks of the Red Army, whose leader at that time was He Long.
He Long showed great chivalry when he was young, daring to fight against the bullies of his neighbors, and later after the outbreak of the Xinhai Revolution, anti-imperialist and anti-feudal ideas attracted him, so he joined the revolutionary team led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen and organized a peasant revolutionary team, which slowly developed and grew. He Long strongly supported Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Three People's Principles and actively participated in the Northern Expedition.
In 1927, After many years of revolutionary war, He Long began to change his thinking and began to believe in communism, and after the "April 12" counter-revolutionary incident, he led his troops to participate in the Nanchang Uprising, became one of the founders of our army, and later joined the Communist Party. After the failure of the uprising, He Long created revolutionary base areas in Western Hunan and other places. Here he met and fell in love with Jian Xianren.

At that time, the White Terror was very severe, so although the two had just married, they did not have much time together. He Long often had to go to various places to lead the armed struggle, and the husband and wife gathered less and left more. Their first child, Honghong, was born in 1930, but at that time, He Long was fighting outside the war and could not take care of the family, so he took the child to hide in Tibet to avoid the pursuit of the enemy, and finally Honghong died because he was ill and could not be treated. To make matters worse, the fourth brother of The First Brother was also betrayed and sacrificed by the traitors, and the loss of her relatives brought a great blow to the First Brother, but before she could come out of her wounds, she was captured by the enemy, and later escaped by hanging, disguised as a beggar, and returned home, until four years later, in 1934, when the Red Army team was found, and the husband and wife were reunited.
In 1935, He Long and Jian Xianren's second child was born, a girl, when He Long had just won a battle on the front line, so he named the child Jiesheng. Shortly after He Jiesheng was born, the Red Army began the Long March, He Long needed to command the work in the front of the Red Army team because of work transfers, while Jian Xianren, who was at the rear of the team, carried Jie sheng, who was born less than 20 days ago, and struggled in the war. They encountered aircraft bombing, machine gun strafing, and all kinds of difficulties that people can't imagine now, but fortunately, they successfully completed the Long March to Yan'an in northern Shaanxi.
In the middle of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, due to the perennial separation, the feelings of the husband and wife gradually fell out of harmony, and Jian Xianren and He Long chose to divorce. After resuming his single life, He Xianren chose to study for further study and took his second daughter Jiesheng to the Soviet Union to study. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served in many departments and made many achievements. And she never got married again after the divorce, and spent the rest of her life of material simplicity and spiritual fullness.
Under the enlightenment and encouragement of his mother, He Jiesheng was successfully admitted to Peking University, and later entered the Academy of Military Sciences to work and engage in research work. Later, he began to write as a military writer, writing a number of works on military themes, which lasted for ten years, and was responsible for the main work of the Chinese Military Encyclopedia, and was awarded the rank of major general in 1996.
