On November 19, 1935, after the Red Second and Sixth Armies set out to start the Long March, they entered the territory of Dayong that night and began to cross the Lishui River from eight ferry ports.

The Yanglinpu ferry port in Sangang Village, Yanghuping Town, Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, is one of the eight ferries that the Red Army rushed to cross the Lishui River, and at present, only this ferry port has a monument.

In front of the monument, there is also a monument to the site of the Red Army's rush to cross the Lishui Battle.

In that year, more than 18,000 Red Army soldiers, after reaching the north bank of the Lishui River, with a fierce offensive, laid down more than thirty bunkers of the enemy, and quickly broke through the blockade line of the Lishui bunkers set up by the enemy.

However, including Zhou Yuzhu, member of the Xiang'echuanqian Provincial CPC Committee and secretary of the Provincial Youth League Committee, Wang Lie, head of the Red Forty-ninth Regiment, and He Ronghua, chief of staff of the Red Forty-ninth Regiment, there were more than thirty Commanders and Fighters of the Red Army who died heroically in this battle.

In that year, the Red Forty-ninth Regiment was the advance team to cross the river, and the regimental commander Wang Lie was unfortunately shot and killed while reconnaissance of the enemy's situation.

Zhou Yuzhu, member of the Xiang'echuanqian Provincial CPC Committee and secretary of the Provincial Youth League Cpc Committee, was killed heroically by an enemy plane while leading the youth commando to charge.

This ferry port in Sangang Village is also the place where He Long led a machine gun company and 60 mortars to destroy the enemy bunker on the other side of the Lishui River and avenge the commander of Wang Lie.
