On December 16, market research institute TrendForce released the ranking and revenue data of the world's top ten IC designers in the third quarter of 2021.

According to the data, the total revenue of the world's top ten IC designers in the third quarter of 2021 reached $33.7 billion, a substantial increase of 45% year-on-year.

In the third quarter of 2021, the world's top ten IC design manufacturers: Qualcomm ranked first, and Lianyong grew the fastest

In terms of specific rankings, Qualcomm ranked first in the third quarter with revenue of $7.733 billion, up 56% year-on-year. Driven by the continued huge demand for 5G mobile phones from major mobile phone manufacturers, Qualcomm Processors and RF FRONT-END Segment revenue grew again, while the IoT segment benefited from strong demand from consumer electronics, edge networks and industrial sectors, with revenue growth of 66% year-on-year, the highest growth rate.

NVIDIA, which ranked second, still benefited from the revenue of gaming graphics cards and data centers, with annual revenue growth rates of 53% and 48% in the two major product divisions, respectively; in addition, professionally designed visualization solutions accounted for only 8% of total revenue, but due to strong mining demand, as customers actively deployed RTX series high-performance graphics cards, its product division revenue increased by 148% year-on-year, and the overall revenue increased to $6.6 billion, an annual increase of 55%.

Broadcom, ranked third, whose revenue is mainly from network chips, broadband communication chips and storage and bridging chip businesses, has been driven by the mixed working system in the post-epidemic era and the acceleration of enterprises to the cloud, which has increased its chip demand, driving Broadcom's revenue to $5.4 billion, an annual growth of 17%.

MediaTek continued to expand its 5G global layout, benefiting from product portfolio optimization, product line specifications, sales increases, price increases and other factors, mobile phone product line revenue increased by 72% year-on-year, and the annual revenue growth rate of other product lines also reached double digits, with a total third-quarter revenue of $4.7 billion, an annual increase of 43%, ranking fourth in the world.

AMD shipped well in the Ryzen, Radeon, and EPYC series in the gaming, data center, and server sectors, driving overall revenue to $4.3 billion, up 54% year-on-year, ranking fifth.

Lian Yong continued to cultivate in the two major product lines of system single chip and panel driver chip, the proportion of OLED panel driver chip shipments increased, and the product ASP improvement and shipment were booming, and the third quarter revenue reached 1.4 billion US dollars, an increase of 84% year-on-year, which was the fastest growing manufacturer among the top ten manufacturers.

In the third quarter, due to the increase in the price of network chips, Realtek surpassed Xilinx in revenue and rose to the eighth place in the world.

The spectacle also grew significantly due to the significant growth of large-size driver chips in the three main product lines of television, monitors and notebook computers, and the revenue of large-size driver chips increased by 111% year-on-year, driving the total revenue to exceed the $400 million mark, an annual increase of 75%, squeezing into the tenth place.

Overall, the revenue of major IC designers in the third quarter generally reached a new high, with the top seven operators ranking the same as in the second quarter, but the eighth to tenth places changed again.

Looking forward to the fourth quarter, TrendForce believes that Taiwan factories are generally conservative, in addition to entering the traditional off-season of the electronics industry, coupled with the slowdown in demand for consumer applications, and the length of the client is expected to reduce the strength of pulling goods, revenue will be tested again; in addition to consumer electronics application products, international manufacturers focus on the development of servers, data centers, product series development is expected to maintain a growth trend.
