BYD Semiconductor announced that the new power device driver chip has been independently developed and supplied in batches

Recently, BASED Semiconductor, based on the solid foundation of previous research and development results, continued to integrate its own advantages, successfully independently developed and mass-produced 1200V power device driver chip - BF1181, and realized mass supply to major manufacturers in December this year.

The BF1181 is a magnetically isolated single-channel gate driver chip for driving 1200V power devices with excellent dynamic performance and operational stability, and integrates a variety of functions such as fault alarm, active Miller clamp, primary and secondary undervoltage protection, etc. The BF1181 also integrates analog level detection for temperature or voltage detection and improves chip versatility, further simplifying system design such as size and cost.

In order to safely and reliably use the power device, and to realize the real-time control of the MCU's low-voltage drive signal to control the opening and shutdown of the power device, the power device driver chip is indispensable, it integrates the drive function and various protection functions in one. It can be said that every power device needs a driver chip – the right driver chip can make power electronics systems more effective with less.

However, China's automotive power device driver chip currently mainly relies on imports, before the domestic basically did not meet the application of the car grade high-voltage power device driver chip.

IN 2011, BYD Semiconductor has mass-produced 600V power device driver chips

Today, BYD Semiconductor's self-developed 1200V driver chip BF1181 has a wider range of applications and can be applied to EV/HEV power modules, industrial motor control drives, industrial power supplies, solar inverters and other fields. Prior to this, the power device driver chip was easy to ignore because of its small single value, which accounted for a relatively low proportion of the cost of the automotive electronic system, but it was on a par with the power device in the automotive electronic system and played a vital role in new energy vehicles.
