Liu Yongyao, a native of Liling, Hunan, was born in 1909, began to study at the age of 6, and was admitted to Chaoyang University in Beijing in 1922, in the same year, the Governments of the United States, Britain, Belgium, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal and Beiyang signed the "Nine-Power Pact", in which the United States proposed "open doors" and "equal opportunities".
The signing of the "Nine-Nation Pact" made the college students of all schools sad and indignant, and Liu Yongyao was also one of them, he resolutely gave up the admission qualification of Chaoyang University, transferred to the Guangzhou Base Camp Student Company, and was admitted to the Army Martial Arts School in the same year.
In 1924, the Whampoa Military Academy was established, he was admitted to Whampoa with excellent results, only 15 years old, he was the youngest in the first class, although he was young, but the actual combat and theory were not worse than the rest of the people, the following year was elected to the Crusade Army, as the leader of the stormtroopers.
This time the Crusade Army was mainly composed of students of the Whampoa Military Academy and the Cantonese Army, they marched east from the southern coast of Guangdong, Liu Yongyao played a backbone role as a stormtrooper, they won successive victories, successively captured Tamsui, Haifeng, Shantou, Liu Yongyao was wounded many times, but refused to go to the front, in September 1925, he participated in the second crusade.
In the two crusades, Liu Yongyao made a lot of merit, he was promoted to battalion commander, only 16 years old he became the brightest star in Huangpu, because of this, he got the opportunity to enter the Moscow Sun Yat-sen University for further study, in 1931 at the age of 20, he was awarded the rank of lieutenant general, as for his history so low-key, in addition to his own factors, mainly he engaged in education work.
After he returned to China in 1927, he served as the chief instructor of the Training Office of the Army Officer School and a professor at the National Central University.
However, after the outbreak of the civil war, Liu Yongyao was deeply distressed, not engaged in politics, after going to the "Bay Bay", he became a university professor, focusing on education, it is worth mentioning that Liu Yongyao has a well-known granddaughter, that is, Liu Ruoying, who sang "Later".
