Liu Yongyao, born in 1909 in Liling, Hunan, has been a smart and hard-working child since childhood, from private school to primary school has always achieved excellent results, is a veritable bully. In August 1922, Liu Yongyao was successfully admitted to Chaoyang University in Beijing. At that time, China was in a period of warlord chaos, and all kinds of new and old ideas and concepts had shocked the whole of China, and the whole country could hardly put down a quiet desk. Liu Yongyao had realized that the step-by-step study was meaningless to the Chinese revolution, and that only by joining the army could it be truly beneficial to the country, so at the age of 14, he followed the example of Ban Chao and abandoned his pen to join the army, and six months after enrolling in school, he entered the student company of the Guangzhou base camp, and entered the army martial arts school in the winter of the same year.

In August 1924, Liu Yongyao entered the newly established Whampoa Military Academy and became a trainee of the first phase of the sixth team, when he was only 15 years old, the youngest of the students in this period.
