In the Anti-Japanese Salvation Movement, Tao Xingzhi and Zou Taofen formed a deep friendship.
In 1935, 14 students of the Xin'an Tour Group spread the Chinese Communist Party's anti-Japanese and national salvation ideas throughout the country.
When they encountered difficulties on the way, Tao Xingzhi and Zou Taofen reached out to help, and handed over the newly published "Map of the History of Japanese Imperialist Aggression in China" and the anti-Japanese progress book to the Xin'an Tour Group to sell, helping them tide over the difficulties.
On May 31, 1936, the National Federation for the Salvation of the Nation from all walks of life was established. Zou Taofen and Tao Xingzhi were both elected as executive members and standing committee members. On July 15, Tao Xingzhi, Zou Taofen, and others jointly published "Several Basic Conditions and Minimum Requirements for Unity and Imperial Insults", clearly expressing their willingness to cooperate sincerely with all anti-Japanese parties, groups and individuals to jointly resist Japan.
On July 24, 1944, Zou Taofen died of illness in Shanghai. Upon learning the news of Zou Taofen's death, Tao Xingzhi was extremely sad, and wrote down a text of mourning for Zou Taofen with a pen, and asked Xia Zhiqiu to compose a song.
