Tao Xingzhi's Campus Management - Humanistic Management Thought

author:Stinky foal

First, life-oriented. "For the sake of the children, be willing to be a camel; for the benefit of others, the cattle and horses will also do." This is an important school philosophy of Mr. Tao. I think that whether it is a public school or a private school, his ultimate goal should be for the sake of his children. And not for profit. Only a school for the sake of the child is a good school. It is not enough to have such a purpose, but it should also be put into concrete action.

Second, democratic self-government. Democracy is the core of Tao Xingzhi's thinking on running schools. Tao Xingzhi believes that "to run a good school does not depend on one person, nor on a small number of people, so that every student, every teacher, knows that this school is my school, and is willing to share weal and woe with the students, that is the real school in the republic society." In order to strengthen democratic autonomy, the author proposes two channels. First, broaden the channels of democracy and promote democratic decision-making. For example, set up principal mailboxes, conduct teaching congresses, conduct individual interviews, and so on. Second, strengthen the self-management of students.

Third, humanistic education. The humanistic qualities proposed by Tao Xingzhi can be summarized into two points. First, we must have the feeling of "love all over the world". The second is the pioneering and creative spirit of "daring to explore the uninformed fields" and "daring to enter the uncivilized frontiers."

Fourth, the moisturizer is silent. Campus culture is a concentrated embodiment of a school's philosophy. The author proposes four cultural constructions. The first is environmental culture. Needless to say, we all love to live in a clean, tidy environment. The second is the culture of practice. Designed to enhance students' hands-on skills. Third, the culture of activities can strengthen students' moral sentiments. The fourth is the culture of interest.

Fifth, peripheral engineering. The so-called peripheral engineering, that is, the humanistic care of the family and society. In order to strengthen the school's connection with society, the author proposes that their school has established a home-school contact system, taking activities such as home visits, parent-teacher conferences, and teaching open days. At the same time, it also strives for the support of social forces and organizes students to carry out various practical activities.

Although Mr. Tao has left us for more than half a century, some of his educational ideas are still worth learning from. Tao Xingzhi is an example for each of our teachers to learn from.
