Spotted lanternflies invaded NSW residential buildings and residents were overwhelmed

The devastating pest Spotted Lantern Fly is once again ravaging New Jersey, and a residential area in North Bergen has been invaded, and residents have been complaining bitterly.

Thousands of spotted lantern flies poured into the community, "occupied" the residential building, and multiplied at a very fast rate, causing the gray-white insect to be seen everywhere in the building.

Carol Winfield, a resident, said she didn't know where the spotted lantern flies came from or how to get rid of them. There are so many of them that they cannot be destroyed at all. Step on these bugs and they will bounce up.

Resident Laurie Jaffe said spotted lanternflies were even found in the pool, and he had seen several in a row. These bugs also love to crawl on people, sometimes stuck in his hair, sometimes crawling on his back.

Another resident interviewed said that there was a steady stream of dead shots and another. He handles about 100 spotted lanternflies a day on his balcony. The family couldn't even go to the balcony because as soon as the door was opened, the bugs would fly into the house.

Another resident said it was scary because spotted lanternflies were everywhere; Sometimes they are attached to the wall, and when cleaning, they also fall on people's clothes.

The New Jersey Department of Agriculture has signed up to an event called "Join the Battle, Beat the Bug, Stomp it Out, Stop the Spotted Lanternfly." The Ministry of Agriculture said that the spotted lantern fly is an invasive insect, although it is harmless to humans, but it will seriously affect the outdoor life of residents, but also cause nuisance to properties and trees.

Residents of North Bergen said the spotted lantern fly first appeared here last summer. A month ago, they made a comeback, causing great distress to the community.

To this end, residents and building staff said they have begun to take steps to control the infestation of spotted lanternflies with the help of pest exterminators.
