Beijing, April 23 (China News Network) (Reporter Gao Kai) "'Notes on Xihaigu' is a writer's tribute to the times, and it is also a new harvest of literature in the new era. The seminar on the famous writer Ji Dongliang's long-form reportage "Notes on Xihaigu" was held in Beijing a few days ago, and this work is considered to be a creation close to reality, witnessing the great historical process of Ningxia Xihaigu's poverty alleviation, which has special significance of the times.

Ningxia Xihaigu, named after the three counties of Xiji, Haiyuan and Guyuan in history, is called the "Three Wests" region together with Hexi and Dingxi in Gansu. Once "barren in the world", it was designated by the United Nations Food and Development Agency as one of the twenty-two "least suitable areas for human existence" in the world. This land has witnessed the opening of the curtain of the national "Three Wests" poverty alleviation strategy, witnessed the nearly 40 years of assistance, and witnessed a series of major national measures such as Fujian-Nanjing cooperation and poverty alleviation, which have achieved remarkable results, until 2020, Xihaigu has entered a well-off society.

Xihaigu Notes is a long-form reportage by the famous writer Ji Dongliang, published by Beijing Publishing Group Beijing October Literature and Art Publishing House in February 2022. The author completely adopts the original ecological approach, close to the realistic characters, to discover the details, feel the details, think about the details, keenly capture and express the new factors and new atmosphere in the cause of poverty alleviation, and write a "history of entrepreneurship" in the new era.

The seminar was jointly sponsored by the Innovation and Research Department of the China Writers Association and the Beijing Publishing Group, and hosted by Beijing October Literature and Art Publishing House and Palm Reading Technology Co., Ltd. Qiu Huadong, secretary of the Secretariat of the China Writers Association, said at the seminar that Ji Dongliang lives in Xihaigu, and in the process of writing China's social change, he firmly grasps the important theme of poverty alleviation, and writes very carefully and prominently. He believes that "Notes on Xihaigu" is a very outstanding work in terms of literary art and writing skills.

He Xiangyang, director of the Innovation and Research Department of the China Writers Association, said that this work is a gift to the times, to his hometown, and to readers. "I was very touched by the gesture of a novelist, going to write reportage about my hometown, in a completely sinking way. What is sinking? It is to sink down, to go deep into life, to take root in the people. The author summarizes Pengyang's experience, Cai Chuan model, ecological migration, and labor migration, observes the details of daily life such as sand control, aquaculture, and water cellars, and observes the process of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization. It is a writer's tribute to the times, and at the same time a new harvest of the literature of the new era. ”

Bai Ye, president of the Chinese Contemporary Literature Research Association and researcher at the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, believes that "Notes on Xihaigu" is a collection of reportage and prose, rich and thick, "This book is about Xihaigu's "History" and encyclopedia. It writes about the history of Xihaigu, its demographic composition, administrative divisions, human geography, natural features, folk customs, and people's lifestyles. ”

He Shaojun, vice president of the Chinese Contemporary Literature Research Association and distinguished professor of Shenyang Normal University, said: "Xihaigu is famous for its poverty, and poverty and suffering have also sharpened the character of Xihaigu people. Now that Xihaigu has finally come out of poverty, the "Notes of Xihaigu" records this process in detail and truthfully, it writes about changing poverty at the same time, but also writes how Xihaigu people continue to maintain their tenacious and optimistic character, which is the spirit of Xihaigu. ”

Zhang Li, a professor at the College of Literature of Beijing Normal University, believes that "Notes on Xihaigu" is first of all a writing that enters the crowd, and at the same time has a general vision. Ji Dongliang's writing benefits from the local perspective in his writing, which makes his work deeply convincing, such as the local perspective, detailed narration and grasp of the depth of time, "Overall, it refreshes our new understanding of the literary landscape, historical landscape and realistic landscape of Xihaigu, in addition to the writer's local perspective, more importantly, his understanding and writing of literature, the writer cuts into a big theme with a small perspective, and records the changes in Xihaigu bit by bit." ”

Yue Wen, director of the Theory Department of the Innovation and Research Department of the China Writers Association, mentioned that the book takes sociology as a method and presents a panoramic view of the process of China's rural areas struggling out of the quagmire of thousands of years of poverty and giving them new brilliance, "It shows us how literature today is out of the circle and how to break through the marginalized status." It introduces the path of drawing methods from various disciplines such as social sciences and history, and getting rid of some of the inherent paths to create a path that has both the power of thought and the beauty of sensibility. The Notes on Xihaigu opened up a complex texture of the agricultural production process under new historical conditions and left a voice for Xihaigu. ”

Ji Dongliang said on the same day, "I have lived in Xihaigu for more than 30 years, and I am well aware of the confusion and pain of my fathers and fellow villagers in this land, as well as their struggles and pursuits, dreams and hopes. Later, although I left this land, I would go to Xihaigu several times a year to interview and investigate, have a deep understanding of its poverty alleviation policies, measures, and process, and also accumulated many real and vivid stories. It is full of people with stories, local people, grassroots cadres, poverty alleviation workers, volunteer teachers... It can be said that everyone has a history of poverty alleviation, which makes me have a strong sense of mission in writing. (End)
