Writers write with their feet dipped in mud, writing about the great changes in the countryside in the new era

Not long ago, the China Writers Association released the "Great Changes in The New Era Mountain Township Creation Plan", inviting the vast number of writers and all literary writers across the country to jointly embrace the new era and write New Mountain Township, focus on the epic changes in China's mountain towns in the new era in the form of original novels, show the changes in the rural era from multiple angles, and vividly tell the stories of the mountains and towns that move the world; by creating flesh and blood character images, artistically reproduce the new life of farmers in the new era with feelings and righteousness, and highlight the spiritual characteristics and ideal pursuit of the new era.

Deeply rooted in life, rooted in the people, the new era calls for "great changes in the countryside" new writing. The industry pointed out that writers need to draw creative inspiration from the vivid practice of the people in creating a better life, create excellent works that reflect the production and life of peasants and the practice of rural revitalization, fully display the great changes in the countryside in the new era and the spiritual outlook of farmers in the new era, write endless people's epics with literary strength, and use literary masterpieces that can keep up with the times to open up a new realm of literature and art.

"The new countryside of the new era beckons us to walk in with our feet, but walking in is not a one-way view." Tie Ning, chairman of the China Writers Association, once pointed out at the National Conference on Rural Theme Creation in the New Era that writers are not tourists, and we must update our perceptual structure in this process, master new knowledge, become familiar with new fields, and open up new horizons.

How to show the changes of the times in rural areas in multiple dimensions, and create a series of vivid, vivid and full images of newcomers of the times?

Recently, the writer Chen Yingsong's long new work "Tianlu Bay" was published, which takes the forty years of reform and opening up as the background of the times, lyrically describes the long and arduous entrepreneurial history of the peasants in the Jianghan Plain to achieve poverty alleviation and prosperity through struggle, and reproduces the great transformation process of the contemporary countryside in a panoramic way.

On the south bank of the Yangtze River in Jingzhou, on the shore of Tianlu Lake, an unheard of vine suddenly appeared on the field, and more than 100,000 mu of grapes covered the sky, imposing. Colorful, pearles and jade berries are round, full, crystalline, fragrant, deep and serious land suddenly become romantic and lovely, swaying... The father and son of the village secretary Hong Jiasheng and the village elite Jin Mancang father and daughter have overcome many difficulties and created a miracle of grape cultivation in the Jiangnan region.

"I sum up the mood in eight words: praise the land, praise the peasants." Chen Yingsong remembered that the countryside was once the kind of farming life that worked at sunrise and rested at sunset, with adobe houses, mud roads, faces facing the loess and back to the sky, and endless labor, picking dung, digging ditches, hoeing grass, planting seedlings... But in "Tianlu Bay", readers see more of the image of new farmers who dare to explore and innovate. "For writers, fieldwork is an essential skill, and only by actually walking in the fields and in life can they truly perceive the awe-inspiring qualities of farmers." In his view, a writer cannot only stay in the study hall and imagine his hometown in a very distant place, only when his feet are stained with the mud of his hometown to write about his hometown, can he understand and write to the real hometown of the present.

In the view of Li Jingze, vice chairman of the China Writers Association, "Tianlu Bay" is a unique and important work in Chen Yingsong's own creative vein, from writing Shennongjia to writing about the Jianghan Plain, the transformation of this theme is the result of Chen Yingsong's conscious and painstaking adjustment of his own subject position and even the structure of the subject, from "high degree of artistic coding" to "self-decoding" and "artistic decoding". When the writer returns to his hometown and re-understands his hometown, Chen Yingsong describes the great changes in the countryside from a perceptual and rational perspective and in an appropriate way, infiltrated by the perspective of sociology and anthropology.

Bai Ye, researcher of the Institute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and president of the Contemporary Literature Society, commented: "Tianlu Bay" is a masterpiece of China's contemporary poverty alleviation and well-off, and writes about the profound evolution of contemporary Chinese rural areas from poverty to food and clothing, from food and clothing to prosperity. The portraits of advanced peasant figures such as Jin Mancang depicted in the work show the quality of the older generation of new generation farmers who cherish the feelings of love and righteousness and the feelings of home and country.
