On the occasion of the 29th World Book and Copyright Day, on the afternoon of April 22, as the closing event of the second National Reading Season of the Chinese Writers Association, the new book launch of the long-form reportage "The Umbrella of Creation-Chronicle of Chinese Character Copyright Protection" jointly sponsored by the Social Liaison Department of the China Writers Association and the Chinese Writers Copyright Association was held at the Jingdian Bookstore in Nan'an District, Chongqing.
As the first long-form reportage focusing on text copyright protection in China, "The Umbrella of Creation" was selected as the 2023 key work support project of the China Writers Association. This work is based on the story behind the birth, revision and latest edition of the Copyright Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into effect on June 1, 2021, and uses the writers' personal experiences and typical cases as the subline, and uses reportage to tell the key points and "cold knowledge" of copyright that are not very well understood by ordinary people, which is a unique "literary popularization". The purpose of the work is to raise the copyright awareness of creators and the public and the importance of the whole society to the copyright of creators, tell the copyright story, and promote the construction of a copyright power.
Regarding the original intention and core content of the book, Li Yanyan, the first author of the book and vice chairman of the Chongqing Writers Association, said: "Reportage is a good way to popularize the law, because the literary expression makes the case telling not only not boring, but also very vivid, and it is a form of work that 'as long as you are literate, you can hold it up and read'." ”
Zhang Hongbo, the second author of the book and the executive vice president and director general of the China Character Copyright Association, said that "The Umbrella of Creation" shows that on the one hand, the authors, rights holders, and rights holder organizations are actively participating in the construction of the national copyright legal system, and on the other hand, it also shows the achievements of the national copyright rule of law, and the most important thing is to demonstrate the value and power of copyright.
