On April 19, the first large luxury SUV under the Mercedes-EQ brand, the new EQS pure electric SUV, was officially launched in the world.
The new EQS pure electric SUV is the third model and the first SUV model of the Mercedes-EQ brand based on the forward development of the EVA pure electric platform after the new EQS and the new EQE. As the flagship new car in line with the new EQS, the launch of the new EQS pure electric SUV not only enriches the mercedes-EQ brand lineup, but also provides a new choice of one of the few large pure electric luxury SUVs with 7 seats for high-end customers in the market.

The new EQS pure electric SUV inherits the design concept of the EQ family, and the new EQS bow body design is perfectly transplanted into the SUV model, and the roof and body design higher off the ground make the appearance more atmospheric. In addition to the closed grille of the "Dark Night Star Array" embellished with star emblems on the front face, the "Ring of Time and Space" daytime running light strip uses three sharp triangular lighting units for the first time.
The interior follows the digital cockpit design that is in line with the new EQS, and the 1.41-meter MBUX super screen like the EQS, with the exclusive materials and innovative processes of the interior, creates a luxurious cockpit atmosphere. MbUX super screen is composed of 12.3-inch full LCD instrument, 17.7-inch OLED central control screen and 12.3-inch co-pilot screen, and the system has a built-in 8-core CPU, 24GB memory and NVIDIA Xavier AI chip, thus bringing a better intelligent experience.
The new EQS pure electric SUV has a body length of 5125/1959/1718mm and a wheelbase of 3210mm. The oversized body size makes the car available in 5 and 7 seats (the third row is optional), and the seats are equipped with easy access to easy access systems, allowing occupants to get on and off the bus more calmly.
It is also the first model of the Mercedes-Benz brand to feature the Dolby Atmos system. The system creates a multi-dimensional sound range covering 360 degrees compared to traditional stereo left and right channels, and works with the Burmester Berlin Sound Surround Sound System for a more luxurious and exclusive listening experience.
As another flagship model after the new EQS, the new EQS pure electric SUV has also made great efforts in creating a sense of luxury: in addition to the active ambient lighting system, the head-up display system with AR real-world crossing function with 77-inch display area, personalized analog sound wave, EQ optimized navigation, etc., it is also equipped with an electric comfort door function - the driver can open the door for all passengers, so that the ride can also be elegant and free. At the same time, the rear wheel active steering system of up to 10 degrees, with a turning diameter of only 11.0 meters, allows cars over 5 meters to be as flexible as small cars.

The range is up to 660 km
The 4WD version comes with "off-road mode"
In terms of power, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV currently offers two models: the 450+ model adopts a single-motor rear-drive layout with a maximum power of 265 kW and a peak torque of 568 Nm; the 580 4MATIC model adopts a dual-motor four-wheel drive layout with a maximum power of 400 kW and a peak torque of 858 Nm. The battery adopts 811 ternary lithium battery, with a capacity of 107.8 kWh, a cruising range of up to 660 kilometers under WLTP conditions, and a self-developed battery management system that supports OTA remote online upgrades.
Don't look at the new EQS pure electric SUV with an elegant appearance, but it is actually a no-brainer. The 4MATIC models are equipped with an eATS electric drivetrain on both the front and rear axles, and the torque shift function intelligently and continuously distributes the torque output between the front and rear axles, thus ensuring that the new EQS pure electric SUV can maintain efficient power at all times. At the same time, the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system can also monitor and adjust the torque on the wheels up to 10,000 times per minute, so that the vehicle can calmly cope with a variety of power needs. In addition, the new car also features a chassis design with four-link front suspension and independent multi-link rear suspension, equipped with AIRMATIC air suspension with continuously adjustable damping, and matched with five dynamic select functions, whether it is urban traffic or outdoor off-road, it can be handled calmly.
When it is necessary to off-road, after activating the "off-road" driving mode, the body can be raised by 25 mm, and with the ESP system, the four-wheel dynamic is displayed in real time on the center display, and the off-road strength is in front of you.
It's unclear when the new EQS pure electric SUV will enter the Chinese market, but according to the understanding, Chinese consumers are expected to buy this car within this year.
For Mercedes-Benz, the launch of the new EQS pure electric SUV is part of Mercedes-Benz's commitment to "electrification". In July 2021, Mercedes-Benz announced the transition from "electric first" to "all-electric". According to the plan, from 2022 to 2030, Mercedes-Benz plans to invest more than 40 billion euros in pure electric models. By 2025, it is planned that sales of pure electric and plug-in hybrid models will account for 50%.
This year, Mercedes-Benz will launch 21 new products based on the Chinese market, including 8 pure electric and plug-in hybrid models, and the new EQS pure electric SUV is also one of them. At that time, its domestic competitors will mainly be BMW iX, Tesla Model X and so on.
