Recently, hybrid has become a new outlet for domestic cars, and BYD, Geely, Chery, and Great Wall have all launched hybrid models. One of the hottest is undoubtedly BYD's DM-i. With DM-i, BYD Song's sales surpassed the Haval H6 in February, winning the H6 sales crown that it has insisted on for many years.
But will the H6 stop there? Obviously not! Recently, a set of H6 plug-in hybrid spy photos were exposed on the Internet, and it is said that the car has a pure electric endurance of 201 kilometers, far exceeding the 110 kilometers of Song PLUS DM-i.
So how does this hybrid on this H6 perform? Can you win back the pin crown with this set of plugs and kill Song PLUS DM-i? Today we will nag together.

Although there is no official news about the H6 plug-in hybrid version in China, as early as the Thailand International Auto Show at the end of 2021, the H6 PHEV model was officially unveiled. The relevant parameters were announced, which will be equipped with a 1.5T engine, with a pure electric endurance of up to 201 kilometers, a combined maximum power of 326 horsepower, and a maximum torque of 530 Nm.
The H6 PHEV unveiled in Thailand is slightly different from the third-generation H6 in China in terms of appearance, using the appearance of H6 Supreme+, with the "PHEV" logo at the rear.
Recently, a set of spy photos of H6 PHEV taken in China have been leaked on the Internet, and unlike the right-hand drive version unveiled in Thailand, this time the exposure is a left-hand drive model. So some people speculate that the hybrid H6 may soon be unveiled in China. However, the "GWM" logo at the rear of the car means that this is still an export version of the model.
In fact, Haval has long been selling the latest technology on overseas models, such as the H6 HEV, an unplugged hybrid version, which has long been sold in Thailand. It also once won the sales crown of the market segment, but it has not yet been listed in China.

Advantages of H6 PHEV over Song PLUS DM-i
The biggest advantage of H6 PHEV is battery life
The biggest highlight of the H6 PHEV is the pure electric endurance of 201 kilometers, which is nearly 1 times more than the 110 kilometers of the Song PLUS DM-i. If the commuting distance is short, and the home can be charged, it can basically be driven as a tram.
Moreover, the pure electric endurance can minimize the time spent using the engine, and now that the oil price is so high that it hurts the liver, it can save more oil money. In addition, the long battery life can reduce the number of charges. Like me, the commuting distance in a week is less than 200 kilometers, basically once a week.
The reason why the DM-i system can catch fire is largely because compared with the previous plug-in models, the pure electric endurance has been greatly improved. But now, H6 PHEV directly doubled the advantage of this core indicator to crush the Song PLUS DM-i.

Although the H6 PHEV has not yet released specific information, it is basically certain that it will also use the plug-and-mix system on WEY's Macchiato and Mocha. The PHEV models of Macchido and Mocha are now on the market, and compared to dm-i, one of the obvious differences of the Great Wall hybrid is that the gearbox has added a 2-speed structure.
The advantage of the 2-speed structure is that in the case of higher power requirements for low and medium speeds, the engine can intervene earlier through the power block, and the power at low speeds is better. The use of economy gears at high speeds can also improve fuel consumption.
In short, the benefits are more obvious, but the addition of a two-stop structure will undoubtedly increase the cost, and will make the already complex hybrid structure more complex, but also increase the difficulty of adjustment.

H6 PHEV is deficient than Song PLUS DM-i
Increasing the weight is not conducive to the loss of electricity and fuel consumption
Of course, the endurance is good, but now the increase in battery life can only rely on stacking batteries. In fact, the reason why the previous plug-in hybrid models have been criticized is because the fuel consumption of the power loss is too high, and the main reason for the high fuel consumption is that a car is equipped with an engine, battery, and motor at the same time, resulting in a significant increase in weight.
The H6 PHEV does have twice as long a battery life as the Song PLUS DM-i, but the battery pack is much larger. The H6 PHEV is equipped with a 41kWh battery pack, while the Song PLUS DM-i has a battery capacity of 18.3kWh. The battery capacity of the H6 PHEV is 2.2 times that of the Song PLUS DM-i, but the battery life is only 1.8 times that of the Song PLUS DM-i.

Why is this so, although this is related to electronic control technology, but it also shows that the more the battery is stacked, the more it will increase the weight of the car and reduce the efficiency.
The increased battery weight will inevitably drag down fuel consumption performance. H6 PHEV is nearly 23 degrees more electricity than song PLUS DM-i, and according to the current relatively high energy density of 200Wh/kg, the weight of one kilowatt hour of electricity is about 5kg. The weight of this 23 kWh is about 115kg, which is basically equivalent to the weight of an adult with several large suitcases.
Although we do not yet know what the power loss fuel consumption of the H6 PHEV is, unless its battery management technology is revolutionary, it is difficult to catch up with the Song PLUS DM-i, which has a power loss of 4.5L/100 km.
The spatial impact remains to be seen
In addition, the H6 PHEV is not derived from a new platform, but is derived from the current H6, so how to place the battery of more than 40 degrees, how to take into account the riding space and the trunk space, is also a problem. Although we have not seen the real car, this must be a big challenge for Haval's engineers.
Is H6 PHEV worth buying?
If 200,000 starts
It may dissuade many consumers
Whether the H6 PHEV value is worth buying depends largely on its pricing, and although there is no official news about its pricing, we can boldly predict it. Compared with song PLUS DM-i, the biggest factor affecting the price of H6 PHEV is undoubtedly the battery, and the current battery cost is rising sharply, resulting in the price increase of electric vehicles.

In fact, before this wave of battery prices, battery costs have been reduced year by year, and data show that before the battery cost rose last year, the average cost per kilowatt-hour battery was only about 800 yuan / kWh. At present, this price has risen to 1300-1500 yuan / kWh.
If it is calculated at 1500 yuan per kWh, the cost of the 23kWh battery that H6 PHEV has more than the Song PLUS DM-i is about 34500 yuan.
Now the Song PLUS DM-i 110 km endurance model starts at 165,800, so even if the H6 PHEV only adds the cost of the battery, the starting price will start at least 200,000. Models with higher battery life are often more premium, so unless the cost of batteries drops sharply in the future, the starting price of H6 PHEV will reach about 200,000-220,000.
If it is this price, then I think I will definitely discourage many friends.
Low-endurance versions are not excluded
Of course, there is also a possibility that the 201 km endurance model is only a high-end version of the H6 PHEV, and cheaper low-endurance models will be introduced in the future.
BYD Han DM-i also opened a pre-sale a few days ago, pure electric endurance can reach up to 242km, but the price is also ridiculously high, more than 80,000 more expensive than the 121km version. However, the 121km endurance model is definitely the real volume version.
Therefore, when the H6 PHEV is really listed in China, it is likely to launch a version with a pure electric endurance of more than 100km, and then the price is aimed at Song PLUS DM-i.
In fact, the current WEY Macchiato PHEV is exactly one such model, with a pure electric range of 110 kilometers, exactly the same as the Song PLUS DM-i, the starting price is 166,800, only 1,000 yuan more expensive than the Song PLUS DM-i 110km version.
But the car is not selling well now, mainly because everyone's acceptance of the WEY brand and the Macchiato car is too poor.
The technology is not bad
Recognition needs to be improved
If H6 PHEV launches a model with a similar price to song PLUS DM-i in the future and a similar pure electric endurance, then how to choose? In fact, this is to put the Macchiato PHEV set of things on the H6, and the price will definitely be 10,000-20,000 cheaper than the Macchiato PHEV, after all, WEY is the high-end brand of the Great Wall.

That is to say, the H6 PHEV with a range of 110km in the future is likely to be 10,000 or 20,000 cheaper than the Song PLUS DM-i.
But DM-i has two biggest advantages, which are that H6 PHEV is not yet comparable, one is that the reliability has been verified, and the other is that the preconceived notions have established a strong reputation.
The Great Wall dht is actually not bad in terms of technical level, not only two more gears, but also the loss of electricity and fuel consumption on the WEY Macchiato DHT is only 4.4L/100km.
However, in terms of everyone's recognition, Haval's DHT-PHEV is far less appealing than DM-i in the hearts of consumers.

Under the leadership of DM-i, domestic brands are setting off a new wave of plug-in models, and joint venture brands are basically powerless.
At present, it seems that BYD's DM-i model is basically out of one, fire one. However, Geely's Thor hybrid, Great Wall's DHT hybrid, chery's Kunpeng hybrid technical strength is actually not bad, and the difference is more the degree of recognition.
