Volvo's new electric flagship SUV, which may be called "Embla", will be based on the REFORM concept car as a prototype and will become the first product based on the SPA2 platform, in order to potentially provide a paid subscription service for Ride Pilot autonomous driving technology, which is based on advanced software and hardware technologies such as lidar, cameras, and ultrasonic radar.
Volvo will also launch a pure electric SUV between the XC60 and XC90, code-named "V546", which may be in mass production between 2024 and 2025. At the same time, Volvo's Polestar brand will also put into production in 2023 a new product, which is the highly anticipated Polestar 3 pure electric SUV.
In addition, Volvo will also launch XC60 class pure electric SUV, as well as a new pure electric vehicle positioned below the XC40. Considering that Volvo has adopted the latest naming rules, it is expected that after the unveiling of the two cars, a new name like "Embla" may be adopted.
Finally, there are two new plug-in hybrid models, the new Volvo S90 and the new XC90 plug-in hybrid, which are expected to be upgraded for exterior, interior, configuration and plug-in hybrid systems, resulting in a more stylish look, a more luxurious interior, and a higher electric range.
