He Haixia (1908-1998), a famous Chinese painter and calligrapher in modern China, a professional painter of the Chinese Academy of Painting (the predecessor of the National Academy of Painting of China); Manchu, originally known as He Fuhai, Zi Ying, also known as Dengying; born in Beijing in September 1908, his parents loved literature and art, and had a deep influence on He Haixia in his youth. He Haixia loved calligraphy and painting as a child, and in her youth, she participated in the Chinese Painting Research Association, and in 1924, she was a teacher of the Korean Gongdian and in 1934, she was a teacher of Zhang Daqian, and traveled with him to Shandong and Sichuan.
During his painting studies with Zhang Daqian, He Haixia enjoyed a full view of ancient Chinese paintings and copied a large number of paintings from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties; in 1936, he held group exhibitions with Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian, and Yu Feimin in Changchun, Dalian and other places.
In the early 1950s, He Haixia came to the ancient capital of Xi'an, where she innovated landscape painting with Shi Lu and Zhao Wangyun, and gained the opportunity to create from the scenery of the northwest, and the three of them jointly created the "Chang'an School of Painting", which had a great influence on the Chinese painting circles at that time and in the future.
