Xu Chengyu, Beijing painter, born in 1946. In 1987, he was a trainee of the Landscape Painting Seminar of the Chinese Academy of Painting, and was trained by Li Keyan, He Haixia, Liang Shunian, Pan Jiezi and other painting masters. He is currently a member of the China Artists Association, a special painter of the Li Kejian Painting Institute, and the former vice chairman of the Shougang Artists Association.
In his early years, he studied Western painting and laid a solid foundation in modeling, and later, because of his love for Traditional Chinese Studies, he studied Chinese University and concentrated on the study and creation of Chinese painting. His works are far-reaching, majestic and lush, in addition to losing the traditional spirit, eclectic, boldly drawing on the essence of sister art, soft a variety of techniques, constantly exploring and enriching the expression of the work, and gradually forming a deep blend of strokes, fresh and elegant, calm and simple, changing artistic style.
His works have participated in many national art exhibitions, and have been exhibited and exchanged with art in Europe, the United States, Japan, South Korea and other countries. In 1995 and 1996, he won the silver medal and gold medal in the Korea International Exhibition. People's Daily, China Culture Daily, China Painting and Calligraphy Daily, Fine Arts Daily, Xizhi Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper, China Reform Daily, Beijing Daily, Beijing Evening News and other newspapers and periodicals have published works and commentaries. His works have been selected into the "Invitation Exhibition of Calligraphy and Painting Works for the Centenary Celebration of Peking University", "Selected Works of Famous Calligraphy and Paintings on Both Sides of the Strait", "Wenjin Calligraphy and Painting Collection" and "Tiananmen City Tower Calligraphy and Painting Collection" edited and published by the General Office. In 1990, it was successively collected as the Great Hall of the People, the Diaoyu Island State Guest House, and the Tiananmen Gate Tower. The 11th Asian Games and the 2008 Olympic Games have also exhibited and collected works. His works have also been exhibited at the National Art Museum of China. Since 2002, he has participated in the national fine art exhibition sponsored by the China Artists Association ten times and won the Excellent Work Award three times. He published his personal painting collection five times and compiled it into the Dictionary of Chinese Calligraphers and Painters.
