"Returning to the Tide" writes about Chaozhou with a strong sense of identity and makes outstanding contributions to the culture of his hometown.
"Returning to the Tide" is a hymn dedicated by writer Chen Chongzheng to his hometown of Chaozhou. The novel tells the vicissitudes of Chaozhou in a hundred years with affectionate pen and ink, showing the truth-seeking spirit and strong feelings of family and country of Chaozhou people. With the theme of "Returning to Hometown and Going to the World", experts and scholars discussed the creative connotation and characteristics of "Homecoming".
He Zhongming, a professor at the School of Literature of Jinan University, believes that Chaozhou is a treasure of literature, and Chen Chongzheng looks back at Chaozhou from a broad perspective, and his perspective has a certain degree of innovation. The novel has a large time and space span, strong narrative, and reasonable pacing. "Returning to the Tide" has a pertinent and profound grasp of the cultural heritage of Chaozhou, and this work can not only reflect the charm of literature, but also reflect the charm of Chaozhou culture. Zhang Xiaoqin, a professor at Beijing Normal University, pointed out that in the context of the history of contemporary Chinese literature, "Return to the Tide" is not only about the writing of regional culture, but also about the current situation and resurrection path of traditional culture.
In the view of Cong Zhichen, an associate professor at Peking University, what the novel supplements is not the Chaozhou spirit, but how to understand the Chaozhou spirit in the collision with the world. The love part of the novel is moving, and the love between men and women, parents, grandchildren, and family and country is everywhere.
