On April 29th, the "Attentive and Worthy of the East Wind - Chen Yongjun Art Exhibition" sponsored by the Guangdong Museum of Art opened at the Guangdong Museum of Art. The exhibition is curated by Wang Shaoqiang, director of the Guangdong Museum of Art.
The exhibition presents the main representative works of Mr. Chen Yongjun since the 1960s and 1970s, and sorts out the various stages of his art from the early days of his art, the year of knowing his destiny, the year of huajia, and the years of his past, presenting the evolution of the artist's artistic style in different periods, so that the audience can taste this artist who is full of delicate and sincere love for life from his works.

As a pearl in the history of Guangdong art, the Lingnan School of painting has been passed down to this day, and Chen Yongjun is an artist who cannot be avoided. Chen Yongjun studied painting from Liang Zhanfeng and Mr. Li Gemin in his early years, and then was taught by Guan Shanyue, Li Xiongcai, Yang Zhiguang, Lin Fengfeng, Chen Jinzhang, Liang Shixiong and other Lingnan masters at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, making Chen Yongjun navigate between flowers, birds and characters, brushwork and freehand.

In addition, Chen Yongjun has lived in Xiqiao for a long time, and the concept of Nanhai Xiqiao, which belongs to geography, is of great significance to him, and it can be seen from the two commonly used seals in his works, "Nanhai Fisher Father" and "Xiqiao Shanren", which affect the painter's creative style. The South China Sea is rich in aquatic products, the South China Sea people are naturally good at eating river fresh, and Chen Yongjun, who regards himself as the "Fisherman of the South China Sea", is even more experienced, and the "Fish Leaping Map" hidden in the Guangdong Museum of Art is his famous work and representative work, which is deeply loved by the audience.
In terms of artistic concept, Chen Yongjun advocates that "art should sing with all sentient beings" and should not create works that no one can understand. He believes that art and life are inseparable: life without art is no quality of life; art without life is not grounded, and it cannot impress people.
Southern Cantonese majestic
The exhibition is divided into four parts: "Turning Yiduoshi is Rushi", "Fertile Soil Kaoru Wind", "Flower Armor Lyric", "Earth, Life, Sunshine", for the audience to sort out the artist's artistic exploration at four different stages from the 1960s and 1970s to the present. Different subjects, different types, from the imitation of ancient white paintings in the early years of study, to the depiction of "Southern Cantonese Heroic Wind" in ten-meter-long scrolls in recent years. The exhibition will be on view until May 15, 2022.
