Realistic oil painting is still one of the most vibrant parts of the ecology of contemporary art. Expressing ordinary and everyday life interests, paying attention to the living conditions of contemporaries with painters, and constituting an important value orientation for contemporary figure painting creation. Wang Xue's unique realistic painting style shows a strong vitality on the current art stage, and he uses his infinite attachment to his hometown and uses delicate and refined realism techniques to affectionately depict the grass and trees of his hometown, depict the friends and family affection around him, sing the fusion of people and nature, and reclaim his own universe with his heart and wisdom. He examines a dream-like reality from a continuous and lasting personal perspective, and adds his own subjective ideals and wishes to his works, clearly reflecting the reality of reality and the reality of the painter's psychology, integrating objective and subjective feelings, and painting a poetic work of art with profound connotations. This is his basis for inheriting the spirit of traditional art, and it is also a useful exploration of the development path of modernity of traditional painting. If Wang Xue's works as a whole tend to be modern in style, it is actually the result of his conscious and unconscious practice.
Although our painting art is becoming more and more diverse, for traditional oil painting, the strong concern of contemporary realistic painting for the living conditions and social destiny of ordinary people is the basic mission given by contemporary art, this perspective transformation not only forms a new subject balance, but also appears a new situation and a new language pursuit, the continuous expansion of the subject matter boundary not only provides a world for young painters to display their talents, but also gives the ancient oil painting art a new growth gene, which is obviously more challenging and more interested in young painters.
Today, the concept of artistic pluralism has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, realistic oil painting in the pluralistic pattern will always occupy its own position, it is not only an indispensable form in artistic creation, but also as a spiritual carrier, can find the soil for rebirth and development in contemporary oil painting, which is completely in line with the logic of oil painting evolution. If it is said that advocating artistic innovation in the traditional conservative creative environment is of course valuable, but in this objective reality full of exaggeration and restlessness, Wang Xue can firmly pursue his own pursuit and guard a piece of inner tranquility that is more worthy of respect, and we have reason to pay enough attention and expectations to his future.

Because I wanted to write this article, I counted the time, only to find that I had known Wang Xue for nearly 15 years. In the past ten years, I have witnessed this boy from the north, from a young and taciturn undergraduate student, to graduate school, to a family, to become a father, and soon, he will hold his first solo exhibition in his life. Watching the most important stage of his life, watching him grow step by step into a non-negligible presence in the oil painting industry in the southern age group, his works have continuously participated in national art exhibitions, collected by important institutions such as the Guangdong Museum of Art, he has participated in the creation of major national historical theme works more than once, every time they meet, they can see his new works, everything is developing towards the benefits, what remains unchanged is that he is still so taciturn, still so diligent and diligent in painting.
Just after the Spring Festival last year, when Wang Xue came to see me, he brought a personal album of his own production, which contained more than thirty works that he had been satisfied with before. Today, when Wang Xue sent me the works to be exhibited in this exhibition, to my surprise, this time to exhibit basically his new works in the past year, for a young painter who has just become a father, has to take care of his family, maintain his livelihood, and at the same time complete the teaching task, he has to work hard to complete so many works.
In addition to this hard work, I feel that What is more valuable about Wang Xue is that when he was very young, he clearly established his own artistic values, and constantly pushed forward on this road in order to achieve a more perfect artistic realm in his ideal. This is particularly valuable in the current era of changeable art trends and diversified personal choices, obstinate and obsessive, which is in stark contrast to many art speculators who seek to save the most output, which is also the key to my continued optimism for this young artist.
Looking at Wang Xue's upcoming works in this exhibition, I can still see the motif of his works that he continues to express: the vastness of the northern wilderness, the cold silence of the glacier, and his simple and restrained expression of the people around him who have experienced it. "Thousands of mountains in the north and south and ten thousand mountains, Xuanche who does not homesick." The road ahead is long, the homeland is thousands of miles, which traveler will not miss his hometown. Wang Xue bid farewell to his northern homeland and went south to the subtropical Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts to study and live, spanning and alienating more than 2,000 kilometers of territory, making his oil paintings look so different. He never forgot the wilderness in which he grew up, and the lone people in the picture, the moon shining far away, the burning fire, the cold ice, or the dry grass on the mound, a few stones, a dead wood, a bird, a lone wolf standing on the wasteland and roaring in the sky In his picture, I can often see the spreading wasteland, and a distant horizon is somewhat abruptly divided. This stretch of horizon gives me a very strong psychological feeling. In the works depicting the characters, I feel a kind of intimacy and nature, that is, the vivid, simple, ordinary lives living around him, Wang Xue expresses them implicitly, introvertedly, restrained, and clearly expresses these lives without a trace.
Wang Xue named his solo exhibition "I Walk Wild", I checked it out, and said that The first Qin Xumu's "Zai Chi", the mood is good. There is also the phrase "drive a horse leisurely" in the poem, and the oil painter, who is not yet 35 years old, is at the peak of his creation, and the road ahead of him is still long. How to continuously advance and deepen on the road of your choice is obviously a difficult problem. What young artists need most may not be the inspiration of a moment, but a continuous artistic creation and way of life, how to adhere to their artistic values in the complicated art world, how to make their lives more pure and simple, how to adhere to the concentrated thinking and hard work of creation, and how to continuously create better and more authentic works, is the homework that Wang Xue has to do throughout his life.
