Recently, the "Lingnan Painting Road - Teaching Document exhibition" sponsored by the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts was exhibited at the Art Museum of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. The exhibition takes the inheritance of creation and education of the Chinese Painting Department of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts as the context, and presents the development path of Lingnan Chinese painting. The exhibition will run until May 5.
According to reports, this exhibition as a specially organized documentary exhibition, different from the conventional teaching summary and achievement review, it starts from the concept of "Lingnan Painting", focuses on the language and formal characteristics of Chinese painting, and strives to focus on teaching ideas, teaching concepts and teaching methods, condenses the efforts of up to 70 years into typical deeds and propositions, analyzes and summarizes experience through the development of various documents, oral records and related examples, discovers and raises problems, and creates an opportunity for exchange for the in-depth and open teaching of Chinese painting in the future.
At the beginning of the establishment of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, the Discipline of Chinese Painting, which had not yet been independently formed, as the main part of the Department of Painting, had inherited the innovative ideas represented by Gao Jianfu, and had long presented a unique appearance of the Lingnan region in teaching. Under the guidance of the advanced proposition of "eclectic East and West, integrating ancient and modern", teachers and students firmly follow the road of realist literature and art, combine the spiritual nationality with traditional language and regional cultural characteristics, and reflect the realism of style in the creation of in-depth life and reflect the times, and have made remarkable achievements.
At the exhibition site, the teachers and students of the Department of Chinese Painting at that time created collective productions such as "Declaring War on the Ocean" and "Hexiang Wanqing". Among them, "Declaring War on the Ocean" is one of the most important collections of the Art Museum of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, which can be called a representative work of the classics of new Chinese art history. The work is 3 meters high and 6 meters wide, and was collectively created by teachers and students of the Chinese Painting Department of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1960.
At that time, the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts implemented that "going to the countryside to practice is the beginning of educational reform", often organizing teachers and students to go to the countryside to work, go deep into life, serve the workers, peasants, and soldiers, and create works reflecting socialist construction. In April 1960, Guan Shanyue and Li Xiongcai led the teachers and students of the third and fourth grades of the Chinese Painting Department of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts to the Zhanjiang sea blocking construction site for sketching. They collected creative materials for three months at the sea-blocking construction site, drawing thousands of sketches and recording the arduous and glorious years of construction.
After returning to school, the teachers and students completed dozens of works showing the sea blocking project and its builders from various angles, and finally, Guan Shanyue, Li Xiongcai, and all the teachers and students of the third and fourth grades worked together to create this "Declaration of War on the Ocean". Guan Shanyue later recalled this past: "At that time, artists wanted to 'three same', eat, live and work with peasants, and students and teachers did not distinguish between each other. ”
The exhibition presents a number of important figures in Lingnan painting, such as Guan Shanyue, Li Xiongcai and Yang Zhiguang, who have influenced many pioneers to this day, and also shows the historical transmission and relay of Chinese painting teaching. The exhibition exhibits the representative works of Lin Fengfeng, Sun Xiaobo and other latecomers. Among them, Lin Fengfeng's "The First Awakening of the Earth" is committed to showing the tendency of the natural world to change the seasons, reflecting the artist's continuous interest in the theme of "spring", especially in the 1970s and early 1980s, "spring" has almost become the focus of Lin Feng's creation.
The organizers said that in the past ten years, the School of Chinese Painting of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts has carried out substantial reforms and innovative practices in discipline planning, curriculum settings and teaching methods, through constantly recalling its own teaching history, widely absorbing the experience of sister departments, deepening Lingnan painting under the premise of opening up, consolidating the modeling foundation, professional foundation, theoretical foundation and creative foundation covered by the teaching content under this banner, and reflecting the combination of traditional background and contemporary consciousness, and attaching equal importance to professional skills and social practice.
