Wang Xuexia said excitedly. Crossover Circle Breaker: Transformation from javelin player to ice and snow player
Wang Xuexia, whose hometown is in Gaibei Town, Shangyu District, Shaoxing City, trained under the guidance of Coach Shen Yongshan of the Athletics Team of Shangyu District Sports School very early, and because of her outstanding professional achievements, she was selected by the Zhejiang Provincial Athletics Team for professional training in javelin projects. In 2016, the state carried out cross-border selection of ice and snow athletes, recommended by the provincial team javelin coach Tang Linhua, to participate in the cross-border cross-border selection of steel frame snowmobiles, and after layers of assessment, finally officially passed the selection of the steel frame snowmobile national team, becoming one of the 7 female team members of the steel frame snowmobile national team.
Although the steel frame snowmobile and javelin are interlaced like mountains, in Wang Xuexia's eyes, sports have many similarities. "The steel frame snowmobile starts in the form of a running aid, and the javelin also has a short distance to 'charge' before being thrown out, and both sports have high requirements for explosive power." Wang Xuexia said: "In fact, all sports are connected, so after the real cross-discipline adaptation is relatively fast. Since then, Wang Xuexia has entered the ice and snow world from the athletics field and started an unknown and new journey of struggle.
Experience and growth: from athlete to coach
Wang Xuexia said that since joining the steel frame snowmobile national team in October 2016, in the past five years, domestic ice and snow sports have developed rapidly. The five years of experience have also allowed Wang Xuexia to grow rapidly and complete the transformation from a player to an assistant coach. At the same time, she witnessed the rapid improvement of the level of steel frame snowmobile sports in China. So far, Wang Xuexia has a vivid memory: on November 27, 2021, the Chinese team won the first World Cup title at the Steel Frame Bobsleigh World Cup in Innsbruck, Austria. "In the 21-22 season, we won four events (World Cup, Intercontinental Cup, European Cup, North American Cup), of which the World Cup is the top of these four tiers." Wang Xuexia said. And these brilliant moments of winning gold have also been recorded in the annals of China's steel frame snowmobile competition.
Seize the opportunity: accumulate coaching experience and actively promote ice and snow sports
Wang Runiu, director of the Athletics Department of Zhejiang Sports Vocational and Technical College, who cares about Wang Xuexia's growth, commented: "Over the past few years, Xiao Wang herself has worked very hard, as an athlete, from the track and field field to the ice and snow field, and now she has become a professional coach of the first winter project in Zhejiang Province, which is a gratifying result of her transformation process to continuously break through her own limits." Wang Xuexia believes that from the bid for the Beijing Winter Olympics, the preparation to the successful holding, more and more people pay attention to and like ice and snow sports, especially parents can take their children to understand the winter project, try ice and snow sports, so that the mass base will become more and more solid, among which there are children who may embark on the road of professional athletes, then this will be of great help to promote ice and snow sports. When Wang Xuexia learned that in recent years, the Shaoxing Municipal Sports Bureau has actively helped the Beijing Winter Olympics and promoted ice and snow sports, and only Qiaobo Ice and Snow World in Keqiao District has entered dozens of campuses to teach ice and snow knowledge and sports skills to hundreds of thousands of students, she said that she has the opportunity to communicate and cooperate with the Shaoxing Sports Department and relevant local schools to jointly promote the development of ice and snow sports in Shaoxing.
Wang Xuexia said that during the Spring Festival, the whole team did not relax in training, but raced against the clock to make various pre-game preparations and adapt to the rhythm of the game in advance.
