Liu Zheng, one of the "Double Olympics", from the sports event production and broadcast laboratory of Beijing Sport University, served as the chief referee of the starting area of the steel frame snowmobile in this Winter Olympics. As a media person, as a representative of the NTO of the Bobsleigh Center and a teacher at Beijing Sport University, Liu Zheng interviewed Heiko Gellswan, secretary general of the International Snowmobile Federation.

At the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, Liu Zheng served as the head of the mixed zone at the Nongda stadium, and by the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, he served as the chief referee of the starting area of the steel frame bobsleigh. Once a teenager in the interlacing of time to middle age, but the unchanged Olympic values behind the two Olympic Games - excellence, respect, friendship have also lasted for a long time, leaving him with more profound feelings. Especially when the athlete's pursuit of excellence and the spirit of self-challenge were perfectly displayed in the two Olympic games, he felt the charm of the Olympic movement.
He recalled, "At the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, I was the head of the mixed zone at the Agricultural University stadium, and I was very impressed that after the Paralympic sit-down volleyball match, I saw the Coach of the American team, Hurett, a coach with no limbs and two mechanical arms, sitting in a wheelchair in the mixed zone to be interviewed by the media of various countries. It was the first time I met Hughlet, and it was a scene I will never forget, and I was deeply moved by his serious work and smiling expression in response to the interview despite his physical disability. ”
At this Winter Olympics, the standard-bearer who appeared at the opening ceremony without fear of the cold "oiling", Nathan Krupdon, a steel-frame snowmobile player from American Samoa, also impressed Liu Zheng. "I was moved by his seriousness and dedication to the project. On February 11, China's Yan Wengang won the bronze medal in the men's steel frame snowmobile event, which was the first Winter Olympic medal won by the Chinese steel frame snow team. As the chief referee of the starting point of the steel frame snowmobile of this Winter Olympics, Liu Zheng witnessed the birth of this historical moment on the spot that night.
In fact, the steel frame snowmobile project has only been carried out in the mainland for less than 7 years, and it is not easy for us to obtain a bronze medal in the face of the traditional European powers. Before the start of the competition, Liu Zheng repeatedly stressed with the team's NTO and volunteers: "We must uphold neutrality in the conduct of the competition, maintain the fairness of the referees and the competition, especially when it comes to Chinese athletes." ”
After two rounds of fierce matches, Yan Wengang finished third in the bronze medal with a time of 4:01.77. Liu Zheng said: "After the race, the scene including all the NTO and volunteers celebrated China's breakthrough in this project, and on the minibus down the mountain, everyone cheered and cheered for the Chinese steel frame snowmobile, and some volunteers also recorded that moment of celebration as the team's eternal memory." The next night, before the 3rd and 4th rounds of the steel frame snowmobile women's competition, Yan Wengang and Yin Zheng also went to the departure area to cheer for their teammates Zhao Dan and Li Yuxi. As soon as they arrived at the departure platform, they were surrounded by volunteers and NTO who were preparing for the competition on the platform, and everyone congratulated them and took photos with them. ”
In October 2018, Liu Zheng signed up for the first training and selection of domestic technical officials for the first snowmobile project. After several rounds of training, on November 12, 2019, the International Snowmobile Federation organized the International Referee Examination, passed with the third place score, and obtained the International Referee Certificate. After that, he went through training, domestic test matches, international training weeks and time trials, and finally successfully completed the refereeing work of the Winter Olympics.
Liu Zheng said: "So far, the refereeing work of the Winter Olympics has been completed, and the understanding and understanding of this project has gradually deepened. After the Winter Olympics, I hope that the project can grow and develop in China. ”
On the day of the end of the Winter Olympics on February 20, the International Snowmobile Federation, the Yanqing District Government and the Beijing Municipal Sports Bureau signed a memorandum of understanding on the legacy of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and the sustainable development of the Yanqing Bobsleigh Center, reaching a preliminary intention on the future hosting of bobsleigh and steel frame snowmobile events such as the World Cup and the Asian Cup at the Bobsleigh Center.
In this regard, Liu Zheng said: "This is very good news for the development of China's snowmobile and steel frame snowmobile projects and the growth of related talents. For me, as the deputy director of the school sports event production and broadcasting laboratory, it is also because of participating in the snowmobile and steel frame snowmobile projects that I can see the important role of broadcasting technology in the spread of sports events, especially in the context of the epidemic situation of empty field and half-court competition, the use of re-broadcasting technology to maximize the presentation of the scene is of great significance to the development of sports events and projects. In 2021, the laboratory led the development of the broadcast technical standards for the ice hockey project, combined with the broadcast situation of the Olympic broadcasting company at the Winter Olympic Games, I think the next step can be to explore the formulation of snowmobile, steel frame snowmobile project event broadcast technical standards, with technical specifications to help the spread of snowmobile projects. ”
