Jiang Hanting (1903--1963) named Shangyu, the number Ofhan Ting, the studio called Yufang, Jiangsu Changshu people. A famous flower and bird painter and art educator on the sea, together with Tang Yun, Zhang Dazhuang and Lu Weifei, he is known as the "Four Great Flowers on the Sea". He loved painting since childhood, and at the age of sixteen learned to paint flowers and birds from Tongli Tao Songxi, and later taught at the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. Jiefang was one of the first painters of the Shanghai Academy of Chinese Painting.

Jiang Hanting is good at painting flowers and birds, especially for depicting various birds. His paintings are internal to the tradition of the teacher, the creation of the external teacher, and the extensive absorption of nourishment from the tradition. He carefully studied the techniques of flower and bird painters in the past generations, going back to the Song and Yuan dynasties, down to Chen Baiyang, Xu Wei, Yun Nantian, Jin Dongxin, Bada Shanren, Silla Shanren, Double Hook Coloring, and Boneless Sketching in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In particular, he immersed himself in the painting art of Ren Bonian and Virtual Valley, and systematically studied it, so that he copied Ren Bonian and Virtual Valley works to the extent of false and real.

Mr. Han Ting has loved drawing and raising birds since he was a child, and often goes to Yushan Mountain to practice sketching, and the beautiful scenery of Yushan Mountain and the flowers, birds, trees and stones give him a lot of imagination for artistic creation when he was young. Mr. Han Ting was 17 years old and studied under the famous flower and bird master Tao Songxi, who loved Mr. Han Ting very much, not only carefully taught the technique, but also guided him to copy the famous paintings since the Song and Yuan Dynasties, which made Mr. Han Ting's painting art advance by leaps and bounds. However, Tao Songxi's painting also has its shortcomings, and in order to further improve his painting skills, Mr. Han Ting, with the help of Zhang Shiyuan, a master of calligraphy and painting who is also a teacher and friend, has come into contact with many paintings of Xugu and Ren Bonian, which makes him very experienced in the painting style of Xugu and Ren Bonian. Mr. Han Ting's paintings of the Virtual Valley have almost reached the realm of chaos, and his friend Tang Yun has a very high evaluation of the "Virtual Valley" paintings painted by Mr. Han Ting, and once wrote a poem praising: "After Han Ting has drunk a tincture, the brush can hook the soul of the Virtual Valley." ”

Mr. Han Ting is good at flowers and birds, and has a wide range of flowers and birds with different forms, thanks to his careful observation and visual memory of various types of flowers and birds. Mr. Han Ting often traveled to Yushan Mountain when he was young, and the flower and grass forms and mountain bird activities could be fully viewed, and after living in Shanghai, in order to paint all kinds of birds and birds, he often lingered in the flower and bird market, not only went to the bird market to see the birds, but also raised a lot of birds and birds at home. Through years of careful observation of them, Mr. Han Ting has remembered the diversity of these birds and birds, so Mr. Han Ting paints birds vividly, the various movements and expressions of birds are at hand, and the flowers and birds in his pen are vivid and natural and vivid.

Xie Zhiliu once praised Mr. Han Ting's paintings: "Jiang Hanting paints birds beautiful and gentle, especially many sketches, and later learners, and suddenly becomes the norm." In the 1930s, the four famous artists in the Shanghai painting world, Jiang Hanting, Tang Yun, Zhang Dazhuang, and Lu Weifei, were known as the "Four Famous Dans" of Shanghai Flower and Bird Painting and the "Four Great Talents" of Jiangnan Flower and Bird Painting, and Mr. Han Ting was recognized as the first of the "Four Famous Dans" and "Four Talents".
