Artificial Nature

Exhibition period: May 1 - July 15 10:00-17:00, closed on Mondays

Venue: Houshan Contemporary Art Center, No. 28, Gaoke Road, Wisdom City, Tianhe District, Guangzhou

"Dao Fa Nature" is taken from the Tao Te Ching: "Man Law Earth, Earth Law Heaven, Heaven Law Dao, Dao Law Nature". This nature is not what we call "Nature" today, but a continuous dynamic, "natural", which corresponds to a Worldview centered on the Tao. At the end of the 19th century, the worldview imported from the West established the opposition between man as a subject and the objectified nature, which became the object of human conquest and domination. Nature is no longer "natural", but "non-natural", under the continuous transformation, nature has become more artificial. Today's artists are facing this transition from the old and new worldviews from the human center to the data center. But at the same time, we still live in a variety of imaginations of nature, the nature of the traditional Tao, the nature of the gods, the nature of artificiality, the nature of data... That is, in the intersection and competition of diverse natures. The nine artists participating in this exhibition, they take "nature" as the theme, through artistic creation to understand and express this pluralistic "nature" in different ways. Their work simultaneously reflects the great changes of this era, where artists travel back and forth between self, nature and data, between nostalgia for the past and imagination of the future, enduring the pain and ecstasy of the fractures and hybridizations of the times.

Liu Ting× Huang Yizhe × Du Zhuoying: XX - About women and her awareness

Exhibition period: April 25 - July 25

Venue: Meilian Medical Aesthetic Art Center Hongchuangang Creative Park, Xingang East Road, Haizhu District, Guangzhou

The "X" is schematically two interlaced lines that share an intersection. Its intersection tries to find commonalities that may exist. Although it may be just a point, it is enough to make the two lines snuggle up to each other and become the motivation to move on. "XX" two sets of intersecting parallel lines, which also point in different directions, like each set of different individuals and groups. Respecting and cherishing each other's differences, this is an exhibition that seeks common ground while reserving differences. Through the artistic sharing of the three artists, this exhibition enters their awareness and experience, and finds the consensus of "female awareness" from this base point. In the expression of emotion, Liu Ting approaches the absolute power and encounters the only chance in the inevitable time and again; Huang Yizhe expresses the relative stillness and eternal movement of all existence with a seemingly static abstract space; Du Zhuoying uses the light color in the vision to pursue the cause of life and the resilience of growth.
