What does a woman look like in artistic practice? This exhibition takes you to see the results of their work

Recently, the "Global Chinese Art Exhibition" is one of the "Cultural China" series of activities, officially hosted by He Xiangning Art Museum from 2020, once a year, and has become one of the key academic projects of He Xiangning Art Museum. The ongoing exhibition "Cultural China: The Fourth Global Chinese Art Exhibition", "Working: Women in Artistic Practice - Invitation Exhibition of Overseas Chinese Artists", focuses on the overseas Chinese female art group and attempts to explore the diversity and possibilities of labor in today's society. It is on display until 27 March.

This exhibition invites sixteen female artists, designers and architects who have lived overseas for a long time or traveled back and forth at home and abroad, and they focus on the results of their phased work in a multi-dimensional way of video recording, artistic representation and spatial reconstruction.

According to the organizers, the exhibition "Women at Work: Women in Artistic Practice" focuses on the physical strength, emotion and wisdom of female artists across generations as labor productivity, from farming to industrial production to intellectual production.

The exhibition is divided into three sections to show their different work and different roles in artistic practice, as well as their different interpretations and different comments on these work and roles.

The first section, "Memory, Migration", focuses on the work of women's art groups in dealing with collective and individual memory, including themes such as heritage and inheritance, migration and migration, food and culture.

The second section, "Everyday, Extraordinary", focuses on how female art groups can complete identity transformation and identity breakthroughs between family routines and artistic practice.

The third section, "Opportunities, Opportunities", shows the poetic imagination and meticulous contemplation of female art groups on macro topics such as social development and the future of science and technology.

Female artists, designers and architects participating in the exhibition include: Chang Yuchen, Dong Chunhua, Guan Zhuang, Guo Yuling, Jin Hua, Li Yunting, Liu Beili, Liu Doni, Luo Peishan, Ma Wen, Mao Yuli, Shen Cai, Wang Meijia, Wang Ninghui, Zhang Xiaoyue, Zhang Yifei. Some of their works celebrate the women of the times with delicate and sensitive emotions, some explore the meaning of family labor with keywords such as repetition and superposition, and some imagine the future with a vision beyond gender. The works they present show the observations, thoughts and feelings of women's groups on the individual, the collective, the world, history and society.
