According to the official media "Voice of Anqing" in Anqing City, Anhui Province, on the morning of February 16, the signing and foundation laying ceremony of midea group's new energy auto parts strategic new base was held in the Dream New Area of Anqing Economic Development Zone. It is reported that the total investment of Midea's new energy automobile parts strategic new base project is about 11 billion yuan, of which the investment in fixed investment is about 6.5 billion yuan.
The first phase of the project is planned to use 458 acres of land, which is located in Yuanmeng New District, Anqing City, Anhui Province. The project focuses on breaking through the "four basics" bottlenecks such as core basic components, and aims to build an internationally competitive advanced manufacturing and modern service industry base, mainly producing electric compressors for new energy vehicles, driving motors for new energy vehicles, and auxiliary steering motors. After the completion of the project, it can form an annual output capacity of 60 million sets and achieve an annual output value of 40 billion yuan, which will provide strong support for Anqing to "enter the top 100 and go up the ladder" and build the "third pole" of Anhui automobile industry.
Fu Yongjun, vice president of Midea Group and president of Midea's industrial technology, said in his speech at the signing ceremony that Midea's new energy auto parts base is one of the largest projects in the history of Midea Group, and hopes that the new base will become a new "business card" in Anqing and provide strong support for building the "third pole" of Anhui's automobile industry.
Since last year, Midea Group's involvement in the field of new energy vehicles has gradually become clear, in the automotive field, Midea Welling Auto Parts has laid out automotive component products with motors, electronic controls and compressors as the core, and the product line involves three major systems: motor drive system, thermal management system and auxiliary/automatic driving system.
At the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, Midea Welling showcased a range of energy-efficient automotive components for three systems, including electric compressors, electronic water pumps, electronic oil pumps, drive motors, and more. Chen Jintao, general manager of Midea Welling, once said that 5 products of Midea's existing three major product lines have basically been tested on the car, and the production capacity of each product is about hundreds of thousands of units. This year, there will be new lines in the three product lines of thermal management, electric drive and intelligent driving.
At present, Midea Welling heat pump products have been used in the whole line of Xiaopeng Motors, Weilai ES6 and ES8, of which Xiaopeng Motors is one of the first customers of the company in 2021. Chen Jintao previously said that in the next three years, Midea Welling will focus on integrating components and strive to become a system-level solution provider for new energy vehicles.
