Recently, the Hangzhou Municipal Consumer Protection Commission announced the comparative test results of 21 types of bottle sterilizers. After evaluation, 5 of the 21 bottle sterilizer products do not meet the mandatory national standard requirements. The 16 models with safety performance that meet the requirements were evaluated for disinfection effect and other use performance, and the overall performance was good, the disinfection effect and anti-drying and empty burning all met the requirements of the program setting, and the performance of other performance aspects such as noise was different.

Bottle sterilizer refers to the utensils used for bottle disinfection, which are also called bottle sterilizers, bottle disinfection cabinets, etc. Its disinfection mode is mainly high temperature steam disinfection, in addition to boiling disinfection, ultraviolet disinfection and other modes.

Sample condition

In this comparative experiment, 21 bottle sterilizers with the words "bottle" and "disinfection" were purchased in the form of mystery buyers through e-commerce platforms such as Tmall, Taobao. Samples covered market-selling brands such as Oaks, Midea, Cub Bear and Quan An Tang. The unit price of the sample purchased ranged from 69 to 480.92 yuan.

Security performance

The 21 products purchased are evaluated in accordance with the mandatory national standard GB 4706.1, of which the steam-type bottle sterilizer also needs to be evaluated according to GB 4706.19. 5 products were tested not to conform, of which: 3 "logos and descriptions" did not conform; 2 "structure" did not conform; 2 "input power and current" did not meet; 1 "screw and connection" did not meet; 1 "clearance, creepage distance and solid insulation" did not meet.

Disinfection effect

According to the daily use habits of consumers, the location that is most likely to breed microorganisms is selected - the inner wall of the bottle and the inside of the nipple for testing. The strains are selected as the representatives of the intestinal bacteria in the bacterial propagules, Escherichia coli, which may cause diarrhea and vomiting, as the test strains for disinfection effect. Finally, the two sites of Escherichia coli were used to kill the logarithmic average value to determine the disinfection effect of the product.

By testing the average value (log value) of the CICC10389 sterilization log value (log value) of Escherichia coli in bottles and pacifiers, the log values of 16 products are greater than 3.0 (that is, the killing effect > 99.9%), and the disinfection effect can be achieved. The disinfection function of the tested products is achieved through high-temperature steam or boiling, and the advantage is that the disinfection effect is obvious and there is no disinfection dead end, so the disinfection performance of 16 products can meet the requirements.

The shorter the disinfection process and the greater the loading capacity, the higher the disinfection efficiency.

The test results showed that Pregnant Shell, Midea and Philips Avent performed better.

Ease of operation

Whether the bottle sterilizer is convenient to operate is one of the factors that consumers choose to buy. Combined with the actual use scenarios of consumers, volunteers were selected to score the convenience of operation from seven dimensions, such as power-on indication, time/working status indication, operation button, bottle pick-up and place, product cleaning and functional diversity.

Among them, Oaks, PLODON Prieon, NUBITE Nubit, Soren 4 models are the highest 5 points; the lowest score of the two models also have 3.5 points, mainly there is a single function, the key operation is not sensitive and so on.

Operate to prevent dry burning and empty burning

For steam sterilizer products, the anti-drying function is a very important function, which can avoid the danger of leakage, fire and other hazards when the product is not dry burning with water.

The 16 products are placed in a 12-hour continuous dry burning and empty burning state, and there is no abnormal phenomenon in the product, and after the test, each product can work normally.

Drying effect

Considering that the bottle will have water droplets left after daily cleaning or steam disinfection, which is easy to breed bacteria, consumers usually consider the drying function when purchasing. The cloud statistics of the title word of a platform can also find that "drying" is a word that appears more frequently.

Of the 16 bottle sterilizers, 5 have a drying function. The drying effect of the 5 products has reached the set target, but the drying time is slightly different, and the drying time is between 40 and 60 minutes, and the shortest is 40 minutes for pregnant shellfish. From the perspective of practicality, the shorter the drying time, the better.

Noise can affect the comfort of product use, infants and nursing mothers need a quiet environment. The size of the noise directly affects consumer satisfaction with this product.

Of the 16 samples tested, the smallest was PHILIPS AVENT of 41.7dB and the largest was 66.3dB of pregnant shells.
