In the operating room, which is a sacred space related to life and safety, surgical hand disinfection is an important part of ensuring patient safety and an important cornerstone of hospital infection prevention and control.
In order to strengthen the surgical hand disinfection skills of medical staff and improve the level of medical quality management, on the afternoon of April 28, Nanhua Hospital affiliated to the University of South China held a surgical hand disinfection operation skills competition with the theme of "Practicing Norms, Building Safety with Hands" in the joint operating room of the Hospital Infection Management Department on the occasion of the "5.5" World Hand Hygiene Day.
A total of 63 contestants from 21 operating departments participated in the competition, and the judging team was composed of heads of the Medical Department, Nursing Department, Quality Evaluation Office, Hospital Infection Management Department and other departments. Li Xian, director of the Department of Hospital Infection Management, explained the competition process and informed the precautions.
At the launching ceremony, Liu Longfei, vice president of Nanhua Hospital affiliated to the University of South China, delivered a speech. He emphasized that surgical hand disinfection is a skill that all medical staff in surgical and interventional departments must be proficient in. He asked everyone to deepen their understanding of the importance of hand hygiene through this activity, truly implement the most easily done but most neglected hand hygiene work, develop a good habit of correct hand washing, and build a safe medical environment for patients with clean hands.
Before the competition, Vice President Liu Longfei led the judges, contestants and staff to solemnly sign on the signature wall, expressing their firm determination to strictly implement the hand hygiene commitment.
During the competition, 7 expert judges strictly controlled the competition, and the contestants fully demonstrated the professionalism and teamwork spirit of the medical staff of Nanhua Hospital affiliated to Nanhua University with exquisite technology and standardized operation procedures.
After fierce competition, the Department of Breast Nail Surgery won the first prize, the anorectal department and the operating room won the second prize, the gynecology, nephrology and sports medicine department won the third prize, and the spine surgery and urology departments won the winning award.
This competition not only enhanced the infection control awareness of medical staff, improved the accuracy and compliance of the operation of "surgical hand disinfection", but also strengthened the cohesion and cooperation spirit between teams, injected new vitality into the construction of infection control culture in the hospital, and effectively promoted the hospital to provide better and safer medical services for patients.
